The accepted student day for MCPHS is Mar.28, so I called them Mar. 24, they told me the decisions were just made, I just have to wait. I called again April 2 (after accepted student) because at least they have to tell me whether I got accepted or not. They told me they already sent out the letter week (Mar.26). Finally when I got my accepted letter April 4 ( the letter was written on April 2). It says I was not admitted into DR. of Pharmacy program, but they have a slot in Pharmaceutical Sciences program, how does this make sense???? Does it means I wasnt good enough for they pharmacy program??? And what is the reason they sent out the letter after accepted student day?

And on MCPHS website, there is $8000 scholarship for ppl who score Combined SAT scores of 1800 (minimum of 500 score in Critical Reading and Mathematics) or ACT composite score of 27, but when I asked them today, they told me it's only base on SAT and GPA, so i didnt qualify for it.

Although transfer students could attend "Accepted Students Day", it was designed primarily for high school students coming in to year 0. I interviewed on March 13th and received my acceptance on March 27th. Although I could have attended the "Accepted Students Day" extravaganza, it was essentially a tour and Q/A for the program. I find it odd that they would deny you admission to the PharmD program, but invite you to the PS degree program, i'm not sure what the thinking is there.

As far as being good enough for the program, I don't know your stats so its difficult to say. MCPHS isn't really all that difficult to get into, provided you meet the requirements. In regard to sending out the letter after "Accepted Students Day", I know that they attempted to send the acceptances first, and the rejections last.

I don't know anything about the scholarships that the school offers, so I can't really give you an answer for that one.

Compare your stats to the average accepted student at MCPHS and give it another go next year. Look where you're lacking and do your best to better that area. Good luck to you.

Yes, the administration here at MCPHS is not that efficient...

Like xpertholen1 had mentioned, the direct entry program for high school students isn't really hard to get into. However, it's definitely harder for transfers as there are only 25 spots available for 3rd years.

What other programs were you looking at besides MCPHS and have you heard from these other schools yet? Regardless, good luck!

Based on previous posts, I think the OP will be a freshman next year.

Wchen, MCPHS has 3 levels of scholarships and they are all based on GPA and SAT/ACT combinations. While your SAT/ACT may have qualified you for $8K, you also needed a 3.4 high school gpa to go with it. The $6K merit award requires a 3.2 gpa and a 1600 SAT/24 ACT. Were you offered this one? If not, perhaps your high school gpa was the reason that you were offered an alternate program. Or, they may simply have had alot of early action acceptances and already had a full waitlist as well. I'm pretty sure they suggested applying by 11/15 to avoid this!

If you want a 6 year PharmD program, at least you have ACP's acceptance. Good luck!

Academic Achievement Award$8,000
per annum
  • High School GPA of 3.4 (honors and AP courses taken into consideration)
  • Combined SAT scores of 1800 (minimum of 500 score in Critical Reading and Mathematics) or ACT composite score of 27

MCPHS currently offers several merit scholarships for freshmen only. All awards are based on academics, regardless of financial need. There is no separate application for these awards; merit scholarships are automatically awarded at the time of admission. Additionally, these awards automatically are renewed each year provided students maintain continuous full-time enrollment and meet a specified grade point average (see award description for specific GPA). Please note the SAT qualifications are based on the combined score from the Critical Reading and Mathematics sections only.
Please note: International Students (with the exception of Canadian citizens) are NOT eligible to receive merit scholarships.
  • Applicants to the Doctor of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, and Pharmaceutical Sciences programs are eligible to receive one merit-based scholarship.
  • The Dean's Achievement Award is available to freshmen who qualify and who have applied for admission for one of the following programs: Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Radiologic Sciences, Physician Assistant Studies, Premedical and Health Studies, Chemistry, and Health Psychology.
  • The Dean's Achievement Award may be awarded to students who qualify for the Academic Achievement or College Merit Award only. Students who qualify for either the Presidential Scholar or the Canadian Achievement Awards receive just the one scholarship.
  • Merit scholarships will not be changed based on additional test scores or adjusted GPA subsequent to the admission decision.
Hmm...she didn't tell you why you're not eligible? Are you a citizen? Did you file FAFSA (not sure if it's required but many colleges do require even for merit aid)?
