  1. Pre-Pharmacy

I was doing my supplemental application for mcphs and one of the questions asks why would you choose mcphs? I searched the threads here but mostly found negative points. However it is the 2nd oldest pharmacy school in the US. Are there any postive aspects to this school? why would you choose mcphs-boston?

You can look on the school's website to learn more about the school. Some aspects about the school that you could mention is the fact that mcphs is the largest pharmacy school (therefore a large alumni base which will be beneficial), the school is conveniently located in the longwood medical center - across from Harvard medical and dental school and adjacent to many prominent hospitals, the city of boston is very diverse and so is the school, and such. It's not enough to simply mention these points; it's more important to use these points as explanation of why you (as an individual) chose this school.

hope this helps!

Yup...it's probably not the answer you want to hear, but you have to go back and ask yourself what made YOU spend the time and money to apply to this school. Then you have to be honest and just go with that answer.

I read in the articles online that MCPHS used to be on the America Top 50 pharmacy schools list, but as time went by, they just kept going lower and lower on the list until they're finally off the list. Also, I've read some student reviews (and i'm not sure if they're true or not) but they've mostly been bad ones about how the college would accept anyone with a checkbook and how the education is really bad there. But this is all speculation. Don't make your decision based on this! You can look all this up online for yourself 😀

I am currently a P2 at mcphs boston and I do feel like the quality of education I receive here is descent. As for the rankings, I am surprised that mcphs use to be in the top 50 considering the rankings is mainly based on nih funding, and I don't think mcphs has ever received much (if any) funding from nih (I can look further into this). Therefore, the school will never make it on to the list simply due to the lack of such research grant and funding.

I am a P1 transfer from philadelphia at MCPHS boston... half way through my first year at the school...i can run through my experience thus far and give you every reason to attend the school....i dont know how things were done in the past to make students constantly write negatively about the school...but things obviously are different from my experience thus far...but I dont wanna talk too positively about the school on this website cause that would be weird huh?...so feel free to email me.
