Hey guys,


I have an interview for MCPHS-Worcester for Oct 28th..... let's all work as a team together.


Whoever has the interview beforehand can give us some tips and advice and I'll be sure to report back on Oct 29th and let you all know the process and questions during my interview session, etc..... so all of you who have an appt after that day will benefit.... Sound cool??

what does it mean when it says supp fee of $40 (if after dec 2010)??
does this mean we only have to pay if we submit it after?

I cant find the info anywhere and i tried to call them but i guess they are out for columbus day

Yes, it means that you have to pay $40 for supp app if you submit it in Dec 2010...anytime before Dec is free 🙂
 
Well guys i guess am a bit late on here because i hadnt seen this thread. I actually got interviewed on the 12 oct and received my acceptance letter on the 18th. I am super excited cos this is the only school i applied since i dont want to leave the worcester area.🙂lol. The interview was casual, stress-free and they have some wonderful facilities. I was actually told i was the first to be admitted.👍lol..all the best to all of u guys and we definitely gonna meet in class next fall.

Congraulation!I have mine on Nov,6. I am already nervous about it. If you can help us with some interview questions and writing topic, it would be great.PLease! Hopefully we all can sit in the same class next fall.

I'm also interview on November 6th and will be traveling from California. I was just wondering how long your interview and tour was. I know we have to be there at 8am, but I need to know what time it will be over in order to determine my travel plans. If you could let me know that would be great, thanks and congratulations!
 
I flew into Boston today from CA for my interview tomorrow afternoon. Needless to say, it's quite different from what I'm used to even just being here for a few hours! But hopefully the interview goes well and I get a good impression of the school. Will let you know what I think of things afterwards 🙂
 
They wont consider your application, if you took your pre-reqs at a CC? Does having a B.S. (Engineering) already help?
 
do they even email you to let you know they received your app?
i finished my supp abt 2 weeks ago...

can everyone post the timeline they completed their supp and app?

My stats were Pre req GPA-3.7
Science and Math GPA-3.5
Overall GPA-3.4 ( not too great) BS Biochemistry

I definitely feel you have a great chance once you pass that interview stage. All the best on friday.

i guess those are science and math courses. Usually if you havent taken enough math and science courses, they tend to wait to see how well you do in those. But hey, december isnt that far away...all the best

Yes, they do take credit from CC..although they state that your application is stronger when you take the pre reqs at a 4-year college. But since you already have a bachelors, we fall in the same category. And they took all my CC credits

Yeah I was a little surprised, I have my B.S. in Biochem... but I didn't do well in Organic I and never had to take Microbio so those are my last pre-reqs. Your stats are a little better than mine, overall 3.3 and 3.4 in pre-reqs.

it takes 2 weeks for them to review your application once they receive your supp and pharmcas. They will send a mail to notify you that they have received your complete application.

oh so you mean you have just those two classes to go? try and do well in those and you will be fine. I guess with the stats, my 3 years of pharmacy related experience also helped.

my interview was at 9, so i got there at 8.30 to write my essay. i must say everything was over by 11. it isnt a college with a big campus, so the tour doesnt take long. but we had to walk for about 10mins to see the newly acquired dormitories.those are super cool. i hope this helps...
 
hey guys i just got a letter saying that i was waitlisted. Does waitlisted mean i still have a chance or does that basically mean rejection? 🙁

Have you done with your BS biochem? Im a senior now. I wonder if I have a good chance.
 
marsc, i think they want to see the rest of the applicant pool before finally making a decision, since their admission is rolling.

First off, congrats on your interview invite. Why did you make two posts on the same topic, I'm sure a SDNer would have responded in time. Did you check the interview feedback thread? Good luck on your interview tomorrow...
 
I have a quick question for those of you who have already interviewed. My interview is scheduled for Nov 6th at 8am. Does this mean I have to arrive earlier than that to write my essay, or can I just show up at 8?

can someone tell me about the general area and how to get from the airport to worcester...? would the best way to take a taxi or rent a car?

I live in worcester, and I love it here. it is an old city, just like many other New England cities, so dont expect the most beautiful and modern buildings..ehwww. it is like 50 mins from Logan airport. 1 guy that i interviwed with actually rented a car at the airport,so... hope this helps..
 
Worcester ROCKS!!! Take the bus from logan to the commuter rail then the rail to Worcester then a taxi around town in Worcester. Just look up the name of a taxi company in Worcester ahead of time.

PS-Shoot me a email or AIM if you want to know the best places to eat there. I'm a foodie 🙂.

I interviewed last Thursday but haven't heard anything back yet. Overall it was a nice experience, though I was horribly sick and not feeling very well the whole time I was there.

I do have to admit though, after reading all the talk about this school and city from years past (all the good and ALL the bad, haha), I was a little uncertain. But in my time there and after the interview, I came away feeling much better about it and kind of feel a lot of that negative talk is unfounded *shrug*. I will keep my fingers crossed for an acceptance 🙂

P.S. I flew in from SoCal so if anyone has questions about...pretty much anything drop me a PM!

you will definitely hear positively from them. its a beautiful school and hope we meet in class next year.
 
I am definitely putting in the deposits. I doubt that I wont go to MCPHS. I may consider not going if I get accepted to Rutgers, but I'm not banking on that.

How long is the campus tour and who is it given by? Also, is it a group tour?
 
I would say approximately an hour. It is given by the person who is interviewing you (atleast it was for me), so questions are always good. And it is a group tour, but not a group interview.

Well you have to go to the Pru and of course The Black Rose...but you should also check out a Bruins game while you're there!
 
I just received a letter this weekend saying that I get to set up an interview with MCPHS. I am so excited, but I have never been to Mass! It took me about 2 weeks from submitting the supplemental app to receive a letter in the mail.

Those of you that have had interviews already, how large is the interview group. Do you interview in a large group, small, or by yourself?

Hi. I have an interview on saturday. Are they asking wierd questions? How about essay. Is it a general topic or a challenging topic? I really appreciate if you can help me and others who have an interview on Saturday. Wish you the best and I hope you get your acceptance very soon.

i submitted my pharmcas/ supplemental on the beginning of september, and i have not received a single email from worchester yet that my app has been reviewed/received/completed/etc...

Did anyone not get one either or should i email them to make sure they received mine? I am getting worried

No weird questions, very typical (for me anyway). The interviewer did have my file and was looking through it, asked questions based on what she wanted to know. Be prepared to explain any discrepancies if your interviewer so chooses to probe.

General topic you get to choose from; don't stress over it. Just realize you have half an hour to compose something.

Your interview is one on one, your tour might be in a small group depending on how everyone else is scheduled. On my day there were a total of seven people scheduled to interview I think.

I stayed in Worcester at the Courtyard Marriott, about a 10/15 minute walk from the school.

i think you might just call the admissions office. They will let you know of the progress of your application.

All the best on saturday. There are no weird questions asked. Its a very relaxing interview. I posted my feedback on the interview feedback section. Hope to see ya in class in the fall!!!

congrats on getting an interview. The interview is one on one with a faculty member. the tour might be a group one depending on how the schedule is for the other interviewees. hope this helps.
