MCPHS (Worcester) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
MCPHS just posted my Supp data on PharmCAS dated the 4th, so I am curious if I will receive a letter in the next couple weeks. Good luck to everyone in their interviews!

Hi everyone, I just applied at the last minute. I wasn't planning on it but I just realized that the PCAT was not required 👍 Hope it's not too late to still get an interview being that admissions are rolling :scared:

May I ask you how long after your interview you got your acceptance letter? Did you feel very positive after interview or you think you did ok? I hope that you understand my feelings now.

First of all, thank you for your response.
I had mine on Saturday. they asked a weird question which i wasn't prepared and I just said something. I prepared a lot , but I almost forgot most of the things that I wanted to say. The interviewer said that I get result between 2 weeks to a month. Then, I thought it might be bad news. What did they tell you?
I couldn't imagine how much waiting time can be so stressful.

if your interview is at 1.30, you should be done with way before your flight back..it doesnt take that long.

What weird question was that? I was also told to it might take at least two weeks to hear back from them.

She asked why I went to community college instead of 4 year university and I said because English is my second language and I wanted to make my writing very well. and she said between 2 weeks to a month. that's why I was very curious.

Can someone please describe the class lecture style at Worcester?
Is it all done by live video feed?

I guess you can find more information on this by calling the school. I was told by my interviewer that about 90% of faculty are based in worcester, so most of the classes are taught on the worcester campus. Hope this helps.

I've been visiting this website for a while, and this is my first time to post my first reply. I found this site extremely helpful, especially the interview feedback site.
For those who are going to have an interview soon, make sure you go over all the questions on feedback site...really helpful...
the interview I had on November 6th was relaxing, laid back,
but make sure you know how to answer them well. I came early in the morning, ( the first group), it was funny that I was the last one called for the interview...super nervous, but the faculty there were very nice and friendly. They would try their best to calm you down 🙂.
For the essay part, several topics are given and you can pick one to write about.
I just got my acceptance letter this morning.
gud luck to all
PS: for those who are not confident to apply, I suggest you to give it a shot. They really look at the whole picture 🙂 My pre-req is 3.42, Overall : 3.29.

Interviewed on November 6th and received my acceptance letter yesterday 🙂

were you in the first group? I met some people from CA, but not sure from SF...
congrat to you 🙂

I have a question. I was interviewed on the 6th and my mail did not run on Saturday, but i got an email to complete a background check because I was accepted to a pharmacy school participating in the AACP-facilitated program for criminal background checks. I submitted the BG check yesterday. This is the only school I have had an interview with so far, so I believe I got in. What do you guys think?

I guess I will know for sure Monday when the mail runs.

Yes, I was in the first group. My name tag said I was from Stockton, but I go to school in San Francisco. Did you go on the tour right before your interview? If you did I think I know who you were, since when we got back you were the last one to go for an interview. I was the girl wearing the cream color jacket on the tour and had my hair half up.

congrat to you again...
I might go to Lecom (got accepted )b/c I love the peaceful environment the school has ..

for those already interviewed, were people dressed up in suits? or just nice dress pants and shirt??
thanks!
and for those out of town, was it pretty easy to get to the commuter rail and get to the school?

thanks!!

No matter where you interview for pharmacy school, you should wear a suit. Preferably a black one.

I would take the commuter rail if you coming in from Boston. The college isn't very far in fact from the station. When you get out, take a left and then take a right at the light toward the hospital. It's nearby, but only a quarter mile so it's convenient.

I submitted my PharmCAS on november 1st and still working on the process of the supplemental to make my essays as good.

Also since it takes about a month for PharmCAS to evaluate grades, do you know when is the earliest to hear back from the admission committee. Do you think I applied pretty late in the admission process?

To the ppl that got interviewed, do you think these stats are good enough to get me an interview.

Cum GPA: 3.7
Sci GPA: 3.65
pharmacy tech experience: 3 years
pharmacy volunteer experience: 500 hours
2000 hours of volunteer work
getting bachelor degree in Summer 2011
no grade less than a B
organic 1, physics 1, calc 1 in progress
organic 2, physics 2, calc 2 for spring
2 withdrawals (none in pharmacy required courses)
good recommendations (i think so)
i think good essays (reviewed by 2 english professors)

Thanks in advance

You'll be alright most likely, but they may want to wait until Fall grades are in. I just got my letter from them today dated the 8th of November saying they want to wait for my Fall grades before inviting me to interview.

I also got that. It's making me nervous because there seem to be a lot of people on here already interviewing and being admitted. Does anyone know approximately how many seats are available for each incoming class?

Your stats look impressive, but am pretty sure you are not a science major. it is likely they might place you on waitlist to see how you do in those science classes.just my thought tho..

It has been 200 students per class, but i learned during my interview that theyve increased it to 250 from this cycle on...

Rxtillidie,

I am a biochemistry major and I have completed 2 semesters of gen biology, 2 semesters of general chem, 1 semester of microbio, 2 semesters of anatomy and physiology and 1 semester of statisitcs.

However, i think they might still want to see my fall 2010 grades. anybody know if your major plays a role in the admission process?

Don't forget that includes both the Manchester and Worcester campuses.

@BH07 - I would say its not a huge deal as long as you show the aptitude in the science classes. I am a Humanities major (BS-WPI, so not quite a normal Humanities degree), and I have plenty of interviews before anyone has even seen my PCAT scores. And 75% of my prereqs are from a C.C. You'll be fine.

Straight from the School Pages:

Estimated fall 2010 entering class size including early assurance & transfer seats:
280 (225 in Worcester, MA; 55 in Manchester, NH)

Last I heard from MCPHS it was 300 total with 230/70...I'll call them back Monday to verify though.

For those who have been interviewed, what kind of questions did they ask?

I just got an interview call.. I am quite nervous about it!!! Hope it goes well. Anyone know if you have to accept admission right away or can give a deposit and let them know later?

They called you to invite you for an interview, as opposed to mailing you a letter?

They give you a month to respond and accept with your deposit to hold a spot in the class.
