well.. think about the percentage of the people who do well posting a comment vs the percentage of people who do not do as well posting comments? it's correlated to prayers, how many people pray when they have a good day vs how many people pray when they need help.

I'm still here... so I'm not having bad experiences.

Hey sammy15 you shouldn't worry too much. From almost all the current students (P1s, P2s, and P3s) I've spoken to, they said that the program is improving and each new year is better than the one before (remember that while MCPHS is the second oldest pharmacy school in the nation, the Worcester campus is only eight years old!). And if you haven't noticed, P2s are the ones who really bag on the school because "they don't know what just hit them", as quoted from a P3 who I talked to.

Also, you should take note that these "bad stuff" you hear on SDN are all from two or more years ago. Furthermore, some of them were totally giving false information (and I know this from the current students) so you should take what you hear on SDN with a grain of salt, no matter what the school. Always speak to multiple, multiple current students to see that information is corroborated.

I have heard plenty of good, detailed, and encouraging experiences from current students. P1s are happy, P2s are pissed, and P3s have said that there IS a reason to the craziness and that they feel very prepared on their advanced rotations and what not.

PS. Having said all that, I don't mean to give you a false sense of security either, however. MCPHS-Worcester after all is an accelerated program as you probably know. You just got to work hard each and every single day. I understand your concern because believe me, I don't feel like I am totally competent to be a student there. Search around and you'll find that the people MCP-W accepts have phenomenal stats, extracurrics, and etc... everyone except me! I have read just about every single MCPHS thread on SDN, and actually I believe my stats are the lowest of all the reported accepted students on here so far! *Shudders* lol!

Thank you both. It is the only school I applied to and I went for my interview on Tuesday. I was getting a little worried reading some of those threads. Would you mind telling me your stats? My pre-pharm is 3.86, math and science 3.87 while working 40+hrs/week as 911 dispatcher... but no BS yet. Also been EMT for 10 years (I'm 28). I will quit my job and lose my pension to go there (if I get in 🙂, and I wasnt really worried about handling it until I read some of that stuff. Thanks again!!

I think it's all about your own learning style. If you need the professor to spoon feed you every single fact that you have to learn for the exam, then this program might not be for you. First semester, they do kinda spoon-feed you, starting 2nd semester, some of the classes are way more loose.. gotta do some stuff on your own.. and 2nd year, forget it.. therapeutics is 'own learning' type of thing. If you are well organized, know what your learning style is, and can deal with stress/pressure pretty well, then no worries. Each year, MCPHS-W graduates a lot of students, so it proves that some people do make it through!! and... your pre-reqs were wayyyyy better than mine, but I had pharmacy experience unlike your EMT experience, but i think EMT is not unvaluable either when it comes to pharmacy, so keep your hopes up!!

Great thanks! That sounds fine to me. Hopefully I'll find out soon.:luck:

Those of you who's gotten interview invitation or accepted to MCPHS (Worcester), please provide the following information so that people who submitted their application can see if they have a chance of getting the interview or seek plan B. The waiting is killing me..... 🙂

Overall & science GPA:

I just got accepted, but applied in October. (I was put on hold for Fall grades). I had my interview on Tuesday and got acceptance letter Friday.
Overall GPA 3.2
Pre-pharm GPA 3.86
Math & Science GPA 3.87
no PCAT, no BS degree, AS degree from 2004, still have to complete 4 pre-reqs (Organic II, Sociology, English II, and SS Elective this semester)
No pharmacy experience, 10 years experience as EMT, last 6 years working full time as 911 dispatcher (worked full time through school as well).
I had some crappy grades and withdrawls from around 6-8 years ago, but all good grades for the last 2 years of full time school.

Good Luck!

hey sammy, I also have an interview on 13th feb. Was tht interview typical or just like regular interview questions?

I had to sign something saying I wouldnt talk about the interview..but all the info I had read on SDN was acurate. It was very low stress. I talked ALOT.. and I had alot of questions to ask. You shouldnt be nervous, just go in and be yourself, and know why you want to go there, and why you chose this field. I also prepared copies of stuff that wasnt needed, but that I thought would add to their decision. I have 30 or so certifications in things such as stress classes, suicide intervention, hostage negotiations, etc. that I use at my present job. I also brought copies of awards and letters/emails I had been given for exceptional work (on the job). Even though this stuff isnt academic or needed, I felt it indicated my experience with communication and added to my all around character base. It was a very enjoyable experience.

I was at the Hilton. The interview was OK. Essay for 30 mins, and interview for max 30 mins and then campus tour. The campus+dorm only 2 buildings, and they are connected, so not very long to get through the whole thing. Best of luck to all of you.
