Does anyone have the tentative pharmacy academic calendar? Besides holidays and a week break after each semester.. Do we have any other breaks?
It's so great, right? Instant gratification, little to no wait. Congratulations!MCPHS doesn't waste any time sending acceptance packets out. I received mine within a week.
See you all in the Fall.
When I visited I asked that question and the interviewer said to stay away from Chandler and the west part of town. There are some suburbs that are really nice to the north called upper burncoat and Boylston. If you search on apartments.com for Worcester area apartments you'll see a lot in the areas I've discussed here.I am looking for an apartment for my family (my wife, 2 children, and me)
Any recommendations? Safety and distance are important factors for me.
Which area should I check? north/south and west/east of school?
Thanks!

No problem! I'm sure its a pretty daunting task to move your famiy to a new city...anything to make it easier!Thank you for your answer. 🙂
Any idea about the surrounding area of MCPHS with working distance?
Good luck wherever you decide to go!Hey everyone, I just withdrew my application so there's one more spot open for ya'll! Good luck to you and hope you enjoy MCPHS!

You have really good stats. Provided your personal statement and interview are well executed I can't imagine why you wouldn't be accepted. My cum GPA for my BA was lower than yours and all other calculations are similar to yours - I got in. I think you'll be fine.Hi all,
I submitted my application to MCPHS, Worcester a bit late (Feb 1st) and got interview invitation on Feb 8. So I will be scheduled for the interview on March 23. Can anyone who had experienced the interview at Worcester give me the hint of how the interview go or how I should prepare myself for the interview ?

I'll drop you a PM about the process.Thank you so much Pharmacopeia516... I hope so. I am getting very excited for the interview 🙂
Hey I have been accepted to manchester campus...very excited.. see you in fallI have been accepted to the manchester campus...
Is there anyone that has been accepted to Manchester, NH??
I only see people talking about the Worcester campus 😕
Thanks, No Pharms! What's your take on physio and US Health care? There are so many crazy claims out there regarding pass rates and "unfair" grading policies in these classes at MCPHS. I'd love a current student's opinion.Hi everyone... I am a P1 in Manchester. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them for you. I do not live on campus and don't know anything about housing in Worcester. Get ready for a busy year ahead!

And, what is the best way to prepare for the P1 experience - what did you wish you knew before you started or what did you wish you prepared for before you went?
Thanks in advance....
Thank you for this reply...great info. I'm so happy to hear a realistic review about these classes. Along with the nerves associated with starting what is clearly a challenging program, reading the negative posts didn't do much to make me feel better. lolHey Pharmacopeia,
Physio was taught by my favorite professor, Dr. Goldsmith. She is tough but she is a true professional. Everything she tests on, she either mentions in class or is in her slides. I have never cracked the text for that class and got a B+. Dr. Sharma is the other professor and he is SUPER detail oriented but an awesome guy. I didn't do as well on his exams but overall it was what I expected. It's a 4 credit course as is US Healthcare. The final was our last final and everyone was exhausted and the average was a 69. US Healthcare is a lot of new information for everyone. It's not information most of us have ever seen before, so in that sense it's tough. If you don't read ahead and understand the text you will not do well. Cramming for this class doesn't work well for most. Dr. Lahoz is the only professor I ever read a text for. She takes examples and concepts directly from the text. Dr. Lepage teaches for 2 exams for the public health portion and she is a breeze compared to Lahoz. Do well on Lahoz from the start and you'll be rewarded with Lepage's exams later. I think Dr. Lahoz is very fair and she even gives reasons why certain questions are wrong during exam reviews.
As far as advice I wish I would have had... If you try to stay one lecture ahead at all times, you can use the professors to your advantage. They are there to help you and not many people utilize them because they are always cramming for the next exam. Also, I would spend some time after an exam going back to your notes to highlight areas tested on so you can make study guides for finals. You can't re-learn the entire semester in the week prior to finals so spend a little time during the semester doing this. It will help.
If you are right out of Undergrad, this program is very intense. I worked in healthcare for 7 years prior to deciding to go back for my PharmD. I am a lot more mature than I was when I was 22. I find the younger students, for the most part, have the toughest time focusing and balancing their social lives with school, with good reason.
I don't have a family but I am married and work at an independent pharmacy every other Saturday. I commute 45 mins to school which takes 7.5 hours out of my study time a week and I do well because I make studying a priority. I want to do well and I do.
I'd be happy to answer any other questions.
Hey NoPharms...thanks alot you have been so informative...I was wondering which text was used for US Healthcare?😕
Priority deadline to submit FAFSA was March 15th!
AM I THE ONLY ONE FREAKING OUT BECAUSE IT IS THE 20TH AND I HAVE NOT SUBMITTED 😱
Does anyone know if they offer more than just loans, like department based scholarships?
Has anyone received a financial aid package yet?
Thanks guys!
No student parking. I was told students park in the garage across the street for a monthly fee or risk finding a spot on the street.priority deadline isnt the same as a regular deadline. i wouldnt worry too much. just get it in asap. i asked my counselor about scholerships, she said my best bet is to check out fastweb.com
anybody know if theres a student parking lot at worcester? it sucked when i went for my interview.

I received my package last week they gave me a scholarship.. But I also need to take out lots of loans to cover the rest...sooo expensive
There are some merit based scholarships available. If you look on the website they are listed with dollar amounts and criteria.
http://www.mcphs.edu/admission-and-aid/student-financial-services/scholarships-and-grantsI checked out the web site like million times, but I could not find the link to apply for scholarships. I saw they offer merit based scholarship, but I din't see neither links to those scholarship nor the applications? Would you mind sharing if you found them?
Thank you very much, Pharmacopeia516.
May I ask how much did you receive from the scholarship?
Thank you.

I saw this scholarship "MCPHS University Special Recognition Scholarship" on the web site before, but I don't know how to apply for it since there is no application.http://www.mcphs.edu/admission-and-aid/student-financial-services/scholarships-and-grants
i saw this but you cant apply for any of them, they're just given out based on who knows what. most of them either apply to a High school gpa or dont apply to pharm students. the only one that i think might apply is the "MCPHS University Special Recognition Scholarship,"
unless we're supposed to give them our high school and SAT scores.
Did you get the scholarship with your acceptance package or the package received after you sent your deposit?
did anybody hear back about housing yet?

I placed my deposite in October when I accepted my invitation and still haven't heard anything from housing. I worked for reslife at my old school and we will probably have to wait until late spring/summer. I don't know if they do this, but they probably have to put in their deposit soon and if they don't put in a deposite, they forfeit their housing. Until they get all the information, we won't know anything.
Additionally, I received a scholarship but it was need based and only $3000, although my EFC from fafsa was $0 because I applied as an independent. Look for scholarships elsewhere. Once you get your award letter, they will give you two websites to look for outside scholarships. I can post it later when I am actually home and not at work.
I applied for Lincoln, and I haven't heard back from them yet.
When did you turn in your deposit?
I believe they based on first come first serve basis.
I received the award letter last week, but I didn't receive any websites for scholarships. If you have time later, may you please post it up for us? Thanks alot for your help.
This is not true. Students during orientations have the oppertunity to buy a parking pass for 10 lincoln square. This is about a 10 minute walk from school and is gated. You can only get in with a pass and only students and faculty are allowed to park in these parking lots.No student parking. I was told students park in the garage across the street for a monthly fee or risk finding a spot on the street.
Oh, I was definitely misinformed. I'm sorry. I know there is a lot at Lincoln, I didn't know it was an option. My interviewer was wrong! Oops. This is not true. I submitted my application on 1/31 and haven't heard anything back yet regarding an interview or rejection. 🙁 How long did it take to get an interview offer for anyone else? Does anyone know how many interview days are left?
