I checked out the match lists of SLU and MCPHU, and noticed MCPHU seemed to match into a lot more comptetitive residencies. But I was always under the impression SLU was the school with the better rep. What do you guys think?

Anybody potentially have that choice and decided which school they'd choose. If so, which one? Why?

Thanks,
Steve

I'm curious about this too, but don't have a clue.
Thanks for the info about the match lists.

I would have to say SLU has a better rep.
My friend got into Finch, NYMC, and MCPH and he ended up choosing Finch.

Go with where you felt you had more fun...

I would say that there is no major difference in their reputation. As I was told by one of the doc who was on the committee for selecting surgery residents, there are three tiers: top-15, schools with some national reputation and all the rest. So don't get too nicky picky about schools with similar rep.

My guess (totally guessing) is that perhaps MCP is in an area (philly) with lots of academic health center/tiertiary care centers. Therefore, their grads are more inclined to enter specialty rather than primary care. Plus, their class size is bigger. just a guess...
