Has anyone heard anything from MCV yet? I know that they were supposed to send out acceptance today 12/15/03. If anyone has please let us know. 🙂
 
check your email tomorrow morning at 510am-ish
i'm guessing they entered them in the system today, and we should hear something tom. (hopefully 🙂)
 
Good luck guys! If your status was changed for the 12/15 round of acceptances, you'll get the email tomorrow morning around 6 AM or so, when their servers refresh. I'm rootin' for ya! :clap:

I just checked, 7:30 here. I haven't heard anything..anyone else hear yet?
 
I applied this year and haven't heard anything yet either. All of my old emails are time stamped at 4 pm exactly. Anyone else hear anything?

anyone know how many out-of-staters they take on Dec 15?
 
FYI I got my acceptance in October at around 7:30 am on Oct. 16. But maybe since they have received so many applications this year they are behind. Who knows!

Well, I just got a notification update on the my application status. I am currently placed on hold. 😡
Well, I am hoping for the best... 😕

I got an e-mail only asking me to fill out a survey....but no information on changes in my status.😕

how's that possible? the status page says there will be a message at the top indicating the date offers are made.. and as of 10am, there's no additional message... I think your "hold" might mean you're "on hold" for the next round of acceptances early next year...

I think they take 60% in-staters and 40% out-of-staters for each round of acceptances.. but the number of acceptances handed out probably depends on how many people accepted their acceptances in October... I'll definitely be checking the email & status page throughout the day..

I just called MCV and they told me that the round of acceptance will be sent out around 1100 today. Good luck everyone. 🙂

Did anyone else get that survey e-mail today? Its weird that they sent me that while the email said there was a change in my application status.
 
This is so annoying. I have many other things to do today, but instead, I am glued to my computer screen. How interested are you guys in MCV? Are any of you out-of-state applicants? What do you think about the program at Fairfax?
 
I just called the admissions office and they said something about not sending out the email until 11 o'clock TONIGHT. This sucks. Sorry everyone, but good luck.

A lot of the people I know who are already admitted aren't interested in the INOVA program (including myself), specifically because it is brand new and MCV hospitals have a better brand name. But there are some people originally from northern VA that I know who are interested in staying close to home for their rotations. So the INOVA program is a good fit for them. I don't think "everyone" from VA signed up for that program, although a minority of applicants probably did. 🙂

I'm not from northern VA (not from VA at all actually), but I expressed interest in Inova Fairfax on my application. I am really interested in health policy, and I thought that the proximity to Washington DC might open some opportunities for me. I don't know how flexible they are with pursuing individual interests, but I thought they might let me put together a policy research elective or something during the fourth year. However, I'm not sure if I should have listed Fairfax or not because I certainly don't want to sacrifice my clinical preparation, and perhaps there are better ways to pursue my policy interests (i.e. summer research between years 1 & 2, taking a year off, etc.). I was told by a doctor that went to MCV that the clinical training in Richmond would be hard to beat, so now I have mixed feelings about Fairfax.
 
Just so you know..you can change the preference you put on your application during orientation, so if you don't want fairfax anymore, you can switch it.
 
Hey guys. I just looked at the VCU status page (without logging in) and its said...

"The December offers are being made on December 16th. The ranking scores for those offered were unusually strong this year and the number of December offers somewhat limited. If you did not receive your offer as yet, we urge your patience. The next set of offers will be made sometime in late January or early February"


Does this mean that they have already sent the offers? HAs anyone heard anything yet?
 
I didn't even apply to this school and the drama of this is better than the Jen-Ben wedding!!

That doesn't make much sense to me. If the ranking scores are abnormally high this year, shouldn't they be offering more acceptances than usual? Strange. Chin up guys, good luck.

It is amazing how fast this thread died after some disappointing news.

By the way, I think I am going to stop paying Virginia taxes, other states are showing me much more love, and they have not seen a dime of my or for that matter my parents money for the past fifty years.

I was thinking the same thing about California.
 
Here ya go...but for MCV I don't think stats plays as large a role as other schools. I personally don't think that I have STELLAR stats.


MCAT: 30 (10s)
GPA : 3.84 with departmental honors (just like MenInBlack😉 ))

1.5 years research in a med school
2 publications
nontraditional
EC's
LORs (2 from medical school faculty)

Explicitly told them interested in academic medicine

When I interviewed on 1/14, they told me that their next batch of acceptances were going out at the beginning of the second week of feb.
 
Anybody here apply for the MD/PhD program at MCV. If so, have you heard yet?

I thought it was the 15th....however, the weekend might hold the e-mails up a few days.
