MCV acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Waitlisted as well. I have other offers though so I am probably going to drop this and go back home to Texas. Richmond was nice for four years undergraduate, but I guess it doesn't want me anymore! +pity+
It does take out some akwardness from a family friend situation (whose entire line went to MCV) who will wonder why I didn't go to MCV--oh, I didn't get in, that's why!

Will they tell us where on the waitlist we are if we call them?

I found out today that I got in 🙂

I am in-state.

*Will they tell us where on the waitlist we are if we call them?*

No, I don't think so, but what's the worst that could happen if you try?

I did try, they told me they cant tell me where I am on the list and then I asked how much the instate list typically moves and she said she couldn't answer that either.

Hmmm... that's funny. I already though I was on the waitlist. Then this morning I receive a VCU update in my INBOX. Telling my that they have news that I have been anxiously waiting to hear. Suprise, suprise when I click on the link, when it says, you are on the WAITLIST!

What the heck! I don't need that emotional roller coaster crap! I already new I was waitlisted back in December, thanks for rubbing it in!

Arrrggghhhhhhh..... +pissed+

MDTom,
You weren't actually waitlisted until today. You, like the rest of us, were on HOLD, which is different than what it might mean at other schools. Being on Hold at VCU is the best you can be until another acceptance date when Dr. Heldberg tells the computer to accept the top 10 or whatever ranked students in the database (you've been a number to them since the file review after your interview.) Everybody left after the last acceptance day (today) who was not told his/her file was no longer being considered is on the alternate list. They will give precidence to in-state students off the alternate list (as they did in previous evaluations) but I hear a great deal of people get off the waitlist, especially after May 15 when people drop multiple schools. Good luck with everything!

~Abbiequeen 🙂

I too am on the waitlist (out of state). Does anyone know how many people are on this list.

I heard if you don't get off the waitlist that you may beable to move to the waitlist for the following year. I am not sure on the details of this, does anyone know.

I don't think there is much movement on the in-state waitlist. Most in-staters will end up going to MCV unless they get into UVA, and UVA doesn't have much waitlist movement. With out of state however, I believe there is a ton of movement. Its true that they give precedence to in-staters in that they accept 60% in-staters, but it is definately much easier to get into VCU out of state. In fact, I have heard that if you get an interview out of state, you will probably get in because there is so much out of state waitlist movement.

Out of state will have lots of movement after May 15th. In state, I am afraid, ususally has very little movement. The only movement for in-staters is when UVA chooses folks. Most people who are in at MCV and then hear from UVA, will drop MCV and go to UVA.

When I was waitlisted several years ago, the instate list only moved 6 people. It was a horrible year for the instaters who were waitlisted. Oh, and you don't get notified until ~Aug 12 and then you get an email telling you that you are now rejected and it is too late.

waitlisted here (out of state)
i hope we all get in.
peace,
cash

Yeah, I got the ol' waitlist too. =(
Oh well, it seems like the waitlist isn't too bad for us out-of-staters. Good luck to everyone that's on the waitlist and congrats to those who made it!

Just wanted to see if anyone knows if there has been any movement off of the out of state waitlist. If anyone hears of any movement could you please post under this thread. Thanks

i ditto that. if anyone hears of any movement, be sure to post!
i've got this baby on my subscription list!

Bump...

Yeah, I finally have some classmates at VCU. I am really excited!! Congratulations on getting off the waitlist, it is good to see that it is moving 🙂

has anyone else receive an update or acceptance. this waiting is just killing me. 😱

Nope, but I did receive the email asking people to drop the acceptance or waitlist if they dont intend to attend VCU.

Got that email too...hopefully the waitlist starts moving a lot. Good luck everyone, hopefully we can all get in.

Interesting, I'm accepted and didn't get that email.

i have outlook setup to forward any messages from VCU to my cell phone (txt message) this morning was our last day of classes and i was sitting in lecture, and got a txt message saying "VCU school of medicine notification, etc" (i can only see about the first few lines of the message)

so i dropped my pen in the middle of lecture, ran out to the computer lab, and then found out what it really was 🙂

funny story---i thought you all would enjoy it!
hopefully this waitlist gets moving! good luck to all!

It would be a good feeling to just get in somewhere at this point.

any other in-staters who have been accepted? One good thing is that the list is moving before May 15, which is great for those of us who are waiting anxciously for acceptance from MCV. Congratulations to those who have been accepted.. 🙂

Just a note, I will be withdrawing my acceptance from MCV in the next week so that should open up a spot for the out of state waitlist. Good luck to all of those waiting to hear!!!!!

ncstatemed, where are you going instead of MCV? I love NC State, I miss it a lot, I graduated from there in 2002.

I too am withdrawing my acceptance at MCV next week, so another out-of-state spot should open up...so no worries to those that are waitlisted, you will get off soon.

I just got pulled of the waitlist for Wake Forest. I am from Winston so it seems like the perfect choice. I miss State too.........

I am an out-of-stater. I will hold my acceptance unless I get another offer, at which time I will reassess the situation.

Thank you to the people withdrawing and congrats to the people that got in off the waitlist...hopefully the waitlist keeps moving a lot.

Thanks to all out of staters who will withdraw next week!!!

congrats to all that got in off the waitlist..was this the "big" push from the waitlist. or is there couple of others? cause i am on it and just waiting making me nervous...

thanks to everyone for keeping up with the post! and congrats for all who made it! i just graduated today...and it feels grrrrreat.
but i'm ready to let the summer begin-so bring on the wait!

Anyone hear anything lately. I am still waiting. Do you think the big wave for people getting off the waitlist has already passes since we are past the 15th. Hope it still is to come.
