I really enjoyed interviewing when I did it in December. I needed a lot more time to review their files than what they suggest, though.
man, some people really half-ass the co-ops they write. I usually try to make them pretty good, so I can actually put my name on that. I had the pulmonary hypertension one last semester, and it was the first time he gave the lecture, the lecture was terrible to follow, the handout was awful, but I figured I'd actually make something that people could study from. I just did the path lecture from today, and the one last year was "Slide 1. blah blah blah. stupid unrelated comment I thought I'd make. blah blah blah. Slide 2."
How about a format that's easy to follow and highlights the relevant information? I hope that the person who does the co-op next year can just use mine with a simple comment or two.

a few are slightly amusing, but for the most part, they're dumb. Even worse is when someone writes a ton at the beginning of the co-op, but they don't convey anything useful.Yeah, personal commentary on coops is rarely entertaining.

yeah, that's just pathetic. I don't enjoy writing a good co-op, but I know that other people are writing them as well, so I try to pull my weight and make something I'd actually use. I also don't understand how I end up with two copies of one co-op, and then a third co-op of that same lecture that was written by someone else. This isn't rocket surgery, people...I think even that is better than the people who just put their names at the top of last year's co-ops, without editing or even re-numbering any slides. Those people should be fined, or should have to cook us all a really nice breakfast.
here goes my productivity

this arrived today, and the video card, power supply and DVD burner arrive on Monday
Perfect Strangers!
I used to think Bronson Pinchot was such a hottie!
It doesn't matter.
It's good to do whatever you're interested in (if it's a third year option) between September and January, IMHO. You need to pick your advisor in Jan/Feb, so it's good to have been in that department before that. You don't want to do it too early, because it's very hard to impress at the beginning.
So what is the word on the streets for scheduling 3rd year clerkships? They told us that nothing matters unless you are having a baby or getting married. Is it better to do the long ones first and be done at christmas break?
A little secret that not many people talk about is the track with vacation/elective in June.
You are eligible to start your fourth year early, and can get a sub-I out of the way while everyone else is finishing up. This may be especially helpful for the "competitive" surgical sub-i's.
I'm not sure if you could do your medicine sub-i, but I know you can do surgical sub-i's.
heme/onc = BORING
studying all this leukemia stuff is just mind-numbing
That was a fun section. If the patients weren't so sick, I'd've considered it.

This is exactly what I have. Marc, you should pay closer attention to what I do, then you would've had the inside info.
I already have all of the same clothes as you, sheesh. how much closer do I have to get???
well, i suppose that's close enough. though you still haven't cut your hair like mine.
i don't want to embarrass you by being way cuter.
true. thanks for keeping my self-esteem fairly intact.
here is a graph of my motivation this semester
That was you? I figured that was a samenewme doppelgänger. I also liked the individual who couldn't resist blurting out that it had something to do with a Na/K ATPase, which wasn't really relevant....whereas I turned into a freaking gunner in the middle of TBL in front of God and everyone.
It's a sphere, people. It's high school geometry.
See? Still a gunner.
So how DO you study all these freaking white cell disorders and stinking leukemias and lymphomas? Is there any way to organize it, or is each one a unique and perfect snowflake you must come to appreciate for itself?

I was reading through the old MCW class of 2011 thread and saw that someone had gotten their offer of admission rescinded in June. This makes me a bit uneasy as to how/why an acceptance can be void. I am still in school and would hate for a subpar grade in a course result in me losing my spot. If anyone knows why that acceptance was rescinded and wouldnt mind sharing a bit of the details please PM me.
Thanks
I don't know why that happened. Probably just as likely that someone was trolling, although I don't recall the post. They aren't gonna boot you because you got a B- or something, though. Just don't flunk anything and you should be fine.
pretty sure they don't let everyone have a go at using the AC-130 or Javelin rocket launcher or running covert ops with the SAS. I'll stick with video games.I think somebody needs to join the Army and get his fix of real death and destruction.
On OB/GYN, you'll learn that a 35 year old woman is elderly.
Thanks to today's lecture, I learned that a 45-year old male is considered elderly.

I glanced in your general direction and saw a ruckus, but I heard nothing.Did you hear me say, "Elderly" in a menacing tone of voice?
