Legal? I will make it legal.

can you also make assault and battery legal in a clinical setting? I don't want to have to ask every adult with a kid if they're really the parent to avoid touching the kid without parental consent. i dont' CARE if you're the mother's father's brother's cousin's girlfriend's accountant's friend's golfing caddy--you look reputable and paid the co-pay in cash--It's all good.

👍 Couldn't have said it better myself.

Splat and I were discussing this a little last night. Study music. What does everyone listen to when they finally decide that being a medical student should entail at least a little studying?

Personally, lately I've been listening to a little Sufjan Stevens, Mogwai (instrumental "post-rock" band), Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, The Killers (whose latest album is sadly underwhelming), and of course Black Sabbath. Then again, during 1st block I listened exclusively to classical music, so I guess I'm all over the place.
Beethoven, Vivaldi, Metallica, Chamillionaire, Cold, Chevelle, Bush, AFI, Goo Goo Dolls, Rob Zombie, assorted trance/techno/house music, some Lil John, and a fair amount of Skillet.

Sounds like it's time for you folks to make the transition from innuendo to inndoendo.

are you saying it is time for sex?

An activity like this builds team unity and (com)passion for those around us. I think that with its emphasis on these time-honored skills, medical education itself is saying it is time for sex.

Can anyone tell it's Friday?

Does that line work? Lemme right that down. I'll try it on Dr Krippendorf.

I wouldn't know. Married people are celibate. Good luck with Krippy though.

you got a hankering for middle-aged women?

There was an applicant today walking around with the collar of his suit coat popped. Makes me wonder about the quality of applicants they are letting interview here. If I were his interviewer, that would result in an automatic rejection.

I hate popped collars. And I hate skinny jeans. Unless you're a model with hips the width of a little boy, you look like an ice cream cone. Way to go.

Ah, that's just good stuff.

i like to eat spaghetti with bread. How about you?

I can't wait until the 10 pm news on channel 4 so I can see which Wisconsin doctors are making tax payers pay their student loans. DEAD BEAT DOCS!

They make me wonder. Yesterday they had a story on people that park in the handicap parking space at the VA. What really made me mad was their nerve to actually call this "investigative report" Maybe i can write a story on people that jaywalk on Watertown Plank and publish it in JAMA.

speaking of jaywalking...why the hell don't people stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks? Isn't it illegal not to stop? At home the police will hire teenagers and retirees to just stand in a crosswalk and cross if traffic stops. The motorcycle police will hide behind cars and pull people over if they don't stop. My question is this; what the hell is the function of a crosswalk if they don't cause traffic to stop?

Yet another issue is this; I have never picked up a reader's digest and NOT seen one of the stories titled something like "YOUR DOCTOR MAY HAVE MISDIAGNOSED YOUR POISON OAK RASH!!!!!!!!!" Yeah, he or she might have, but probably not. If your doctor misdiagnoses something like that you should stop going to the damn naturopathic clinic for your medical issues. In the particular issue of Reader's Digest that I mistakenly read while I was stretching at the gym, a lady had cushing's that her physician didn't correctly diagnose until a while later. Doesn't cushing's have a ddx list that contains things that are vastly more common than the pituitary tumor? sweet jeesus. If the doctor ordered a Pituitary image for every middle aged female patient that presented with fatigue and appetite changes he'd "break the bank" (kolesari). Anyway, what do we have to do to get America away from the blame first, sue second, figure out the problem some other time logorithm?

Federline is a tool.

Yeah, and people say that we just go to socialized health care. You'd get to wait a month for your pituitary image.

Technically it's illegal not to stop, but no one cares. Frankly, I think pedestrians should follow the same rules as drivers.

All of the doctors featured on the TMJ4 "Investigative Report" for not paying back their student loans were dentists and chiropracters. They should have specified "dentists and chiropracters" in their promos instead of "doctors" and make us all look like deadbeat douchebags. I saw the VA report, too. What a joke that they call this **** investigative journalism. Just because you're an dingus and have a camera doesn't mean you're a legit journalist.

Indo, you'll learn in physiology (from Dr. Herschel Raff who is totally cool, and Jewish) that Cushing's usually has such an insidious onset that it normally isn't diagnosed until decades after it has started. Missing a Cushing's diagnosis would not be at all abnormal.

On a scale of Medical Information Management/ Interviewing to Sleeping in, where does physiology as a class rate?

So this guy is getting ridiculed for studying Big Foot. Galileo had his ideas rejected.

This guy could be right. Oh well, if I fail out of med school by reading too many dumb articles, I'll just move to Arizona and start looking for the Chupacabra.

Definitely my favorite class thus far. It can be a bit of a beast sometimes (beware Prof. Cowley's test questions!) but overall learning how the body's functions fit together is really pretty cool. I'm not sure you appreciate the scope of what you learn until the cumulative final, which was quite difficult, but you will be amazed at how conceptual the information you learn is, and thus how much more of that knowledge you retain at the end of the semester than most of your classes.

I would just like to assure you all that Prowler and I are, in fact, not the same person. It is well-known that I am not only taller than him, but I also have straighter hair. I am also funnier than he is. Although, to be fair, the guy does post a lot, so I guess you have to give him points for trying.

The guy has a bigfoot shirt on while researching bigfoot. What if Mulder wore a shirt that said "The truth is out there" during the show?

Speaking of ortho: happy birthday Ashers! You'd better indulge a little bit today and watch some sort of crappy movie instead of studying for a few hours. 😉

happy birfday.

Have a vodka tonic or a 7 and seven or any other trailer park drink of your choice!

It's an even better-known fact that you're talented at hiding those stilts inside of your pants. Without them, you barely come up to my shoulder.

The fact that I can't answer this makes me think that you all should revoke my athletic training certification. I would say the width of the notch the ACL runs through. Better go do some CEUs...

And there's also option E) being a 79-year old Penn State football coach. I don't know yet what actually end up of his knee, but man, I was there and that was a hell of a hit he took.

Happy Birthday Ashleigh!!!

I think it's hip/knee geometry, which is why women are more prone to them. I saw it on TV, so it must be true.

how about the quad/hamstring strength ratio?

Thanks guys!

I did not study the whole day, just most of it. At least I'm ahead in path (except for reading Robbins), but I'm still behind in micro. Oh well. Had to give up at some point for Mexican food. mmmmmm.

Looks like we're gonna have good weather this week. YAY!! Anyone wanna go bike riding -- not on streets... I fear cars.

If it makes you feel any better about being behind, I didn't get ANY studying in this weekend. This will be a long week. 😡

Does toting a bag around all weekend without opening a single book count as studying? Because, if so, I am a studying machine.

Nothing says "Monday" like looking at a pile of 7 coops that you haven't read yet with the promise of opening your mailbox this afternoon with another pile of them spilling out at you.

I don't have a functional bike (please see post several pages back for further explanation) but would be happy to jog slowly behind you guys biking. Think that scene from Rocky, only much cooler.

Since school started I haven't been inside a coffee shop without seeing at least 1 other med student. No matter how far from MCW the coffee shop is there is anatomy or pathology being studied within.

try the Barnes and Noble in Green Bay. Last time I studied physiology or anatomy there I didn't see any other med students. It's about 1.5 hour drive if you're close to hwy 45. Ride it straight up and get off at Oneida Street, first left at stoplight after passing under Hwy. 172. Nice and big with a couple comfy bench things. Beware first Wednesday (i think) of the month....chess society has games then.

F__k this daytime ****. I think I'm gonna go nocturnal.

Is there anything more annoying than having to listen to stoned people "philosophizing" on the great mysteries of life?

The answer is yes. The only thing more annoying is patently unintellectual musical records containing tracks devoid of anything but stoned philosophizing and atonal noise.

I blame you, Jim Morrison.
