MCW Class of 2012

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think you're supposed to have replaced the timing belt and water pump (had to do it on my Acura), which is like $450. After unloading nearly $2400 on repairs on my car this year, I don't want to buy anything that still needs repairs...

Although if I buy a car for $2500, I might just not bother doing anything to it and drive it until it breaks.

I'm pretty sure that hasn't been done.

I 😍 you.

You'd better. I just spent the entire Senior Week Committee talking about how wonderful you are. So there.

Besides, I'm hilarious. Do you need me to bring some mayo tomorrow?

Oh yeah: the roads suck right now. I spun out exiting the highway. Be careful, kids!

1) I hope you are okay.

2) I'll bring my own mayo. 😉

I'm fine, naughty boy. Watch out, I might show up in a miniskirt tomorrow... oh wait, it's negative a million degrees. Long pants and a shirt... too bad it's not April. 😛

i'm showing up in a blue shirt and orange tie tomorrow.

No, the month.

And it's probably better than showing up in blue and white today.

Go Giants!

Does anybody have big plans for the superbowl? Who are you cheering for?

I'm watching the game at home by myself wearing my cheesehead... as far as who I'm supporting, it's the greater of two evils (I'm a Jets and Packers fan)... whatever, it's fun to watch.

My parents got my fiance and I matching Packers hats for Christmas after they knew we'd be moving to Wisconsin. I can't wait to ditch the Vikes and go for the Cheese.

I think Stringbean might get salty about that, but who knows? He's a temperamental gent.

😱 In that case, we don't want you anyway!

Go Vikings!!

I think I'm gonna cheer for the Giants. I think it'd be pretty funny to have the patriots win every game but the superbowl.

April, I forgot about your Minnesota-ness. I apologize.

Yup, I'm a special blend of WI-MN. Vikings fan, big Badgers fan. Like both Brewers and Twins. Could care less about the NBA. And, of course, the MN Wild, though I'm not very good at keeping up with hockey, even though I like the sport.

My brothers and I used to get into violent fist fights over Packer-Viking games. We've grown up ... a little.

Now you see, there are real Vikings fans that stick with the team through an existence with no Super Bowl wins and the kind of Vikings fans that ditch the team the moment they have any pressure from drunken Packers fans when they cross the border.

They only let the former kind of fan attend the sex-boat parties. :meanie:

I'm a Jets fan, baby, you're preaching to the choir.

You know it... now, just don't tell your wife and we're golden.

I was really disappointed when the Packers lost to the Giants. I really wanted to see them lose to the Patriots.

After reading the posts about sports, I still find myself completely lost...

*gasp* I'm going to be totally left out from the social circles due to my lack of sporting knowledge! NOOOOOO! 😱

Nah, I'm not talking football. As long as you don't like the Braves, we're good.

But I actually like the Braves~. But I was never gung-ho enough to buy their super-expensive jerseys. I can by a lot of coffee from Starbucks with that kind of money.

I just put in a call to all of your potential residency directors and informed them about a felony you may or may not have committed.

I just ignore the fact that you're from GA and probably like the Braves. 😉

As far as I know, yes. So far, I think it's you, me, and Amie. We can make the M3 bobsled team again!

HOLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA:boom:

sorry i can't make it. my cold has rolled over into the hacking up a lung phase.

hehe I am a not a loyal Minnesotan. Except when it comes to the Twins (I'm really sad Santana is leaving)... and the Wild. 🙂

Ah Sledding! Jealous 😀

I've never been sledding w/ real sleds... I think I went down a hill with a flattened cardboard box once in my life.

On snow or grass? When I was growing up, I'd go down grassy hills with cardboard boxes.

I sit on my snowboard on the sledding hill, and it works really well.

I used to ride down the stairs in a sleeping bag. Yeah, that one hasn't made it in to the x games yet

no, but that is another story

I believe it was on grass with a very thin blanket of snow. 😀 But my friends and I immediately stopped the cardboard sledding since my neighbor's grass gave us a nasty itch. Eww.

I also did that, too, ... until I bumped my tailbone on the hardwood floor. Ouchie.

It's totally worth just buying a costco membership for 1 person. You'll save $50 in a year. It's also totally illegal to have >1 person on 1 membership.

You get 2 cards when you sign up for your membership here in Nevada. My roomate and I both got one for the $50 fee. Is that not the way that they do it in WI?

I always end up spending way too much money there anyway cause everything is in like massive quantities...try fitting 50 rolls of toilet paper under the sink!

Anyway...I am glad to be moving to a state that actually has sports teams! All we have in Las Vegas is a baseball team that has probably never won a game.

Hey Fellas, I'll be joining you all at MCW next year! Yay!

Tony

You can never have too much toilet papers. 😀 But yes, smushing 50 rolls under the sink seems quite challenging. I would like to witness this.

A Costco membership is $50? So can you just casually go into Costco to purchase a membership card by yourself, or do you need a friend who already have a Costco card to accompany you (so he/she can let me in)?

Yay for more classmates!!! Congrats! 👍

You can just walk in, say you want a membership, and they direct you to the desk. The one near MKE is about 25mi from Tosa. When I'm not on surgery, I tend to go up there 1-2x/week.

I'm on my parents business account, so I don't know about how many people for start ups.

Hi guys! 😉

Hi. I gather you are from the class of 2012? Congrats! Given your last post, I see you were considering IU? I think you'll be happy with MCW. Having seen Indianapolis (for about 16 hours last week) I think you'll find Milwaukee a more fun place to be, and the education is good too.

Yes we are pretty sure about MCW. We are going to come in next week and take a look at the school options for my children and the job opportunity for my husband. I think it is too early to look for houses since so many will go on the market in the spring. I am really excited. I just can't turn IU down until I am sure since IU is a lot cheaper and in my backyard for the first 2 years -however, we are not impressed with the kids' school options in Indy and my husband has no job opportunity there at this point like he has in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee public schools have a reputation for being pretty bad, but Wauwatosa and most of the suburbs are ok, but then the housing is much more expensive in those areas. And there's always private schools, which I suppose would be more affordable if you live in the cheaper housing of the MPS districts.

yes, avoid MPS. That's all I have to say about that.

stupid university of toledo college of medicine

What did Toledo do to you?

We will only send our kids to an orthodox Jewish school. From what I have heard, Milwaukee has two options and Indianapolis has only one. I have also been advised that Milwaukee's options are more in line with what I want for my children. Additionally, Milwaukee has a voucher system that can be used for private or public schools if we qualify.
