The new version is live!

It's a strange new world. Change is uncomfortable.

No promises regarding further bumps in the road. There will be some.

Bugs may be fast or slow to fix, depending. Cosmetic changes, likewise. And I do already have a list of small details to change, such as the default sorting of some tables, etc.

And, yes, we are ordering a new server today to replace the Athlon 800 webserver and dual p3 600 database server.

I can't view any profiles let alone edit mine, but I guess that's part of the speed bumps we're gonna experience and you might also be switching out the servers right now. I love this site and I'm actually using it as the primary way to keep track of my app process (Excel is so 1996) so hopefully its up soon!

In any event thanks for all the work you do on the site, it is truly a gem.

Same here. The only dates that will work are from 8/26/2009 until like, 1/1/2010 or something.

same here...like if i want to enter in any dates it says the earleist date i can enter is from 8/26/09. So i cant update or make any changes as it says all my dates need to be corrected😕

Change the "date of AMCAS submission" from 2010 to your real date of submission near the top of the page and that will solve that problem.

I think it looks good, but it makes me say my application year is 2009 to update the rest of the stuff. So now, both last year's and this year's applicants will have 2009 applications. Is there any way to fix that?

yeah this seems to be a pretty major oversight . . . I've been trying to keep my ug and especially my grad institution anon. it let me erase what I wrote for UG but i cant seem to find a way to edit the grad one.

edited to add: i found it, but it was under applications, not demographics. not sure why . . .?

also, comments i got during the upgrade are nowhere to be found

Yes, secondary received and secondary complete got merged into one field; sorry.

As far as comments went, you shouldn't have had any from the last couple days - I shut that down too. We did have to purge any unapproved comments. Sorry. So many spam comments.

And yes, DancinDoc...I see your profile in the old database, and no, it's not in the new one. I don't know how it got dropped. I'm afraid I don't have any magic that'll move it to the new database structure without wiping everyone's inputs over the last few hours. Sorry.

The date issue is weird. We're looking into it.

Same here. They lost my account. I get a 404 Error too. Why hasn't this problem been addressed yet?

It does seem that some profiles were lost in the migration. I don't know how/why. I can't migrate any individual profiles without hosing all of todays updates. I'm sorry.

It should have automatically added all the schools you applied as tracked; for me, to get it to start populating with events, I had to unclick all the checkboxes on my trackboard, and then re-check everything to get it to show up. I'll add that to my list of things to figure out why people aren't tracking things automagically.

It worked well for profiles that were fairly minimal; it wasn't working well for profile who had a ton of comments or extensive "application experiences" that went on for pages, pages, pages etc. When the server is more responsive, it will definitely be better switching between tabs.

*Really really sad* 🙁 I used mdapplicants.com religiously. It doesn't even recognize my e-mail or profile # when I try to log in. I guess I'll be spending my afternoon making my new profile...

But the site looks really good. Clean and simple!

So, the dates you put in for secondaries are based on the date of your AMCAS submission.

If your AMCAS submission date is 2011, the site is going to break - all these steps in the application are past tense.

It will not let you put in dates for anything that are BEFORE your AMCAS submission date.

All your dates basically have to be within two years of your AMCAS submission date.

If you don't enter an exact date, it makes its calculations based on January 1st, which is why you're seeing those weird 1/1/2011 cutoff dates.

So, if you're having trouble with dates, make sure your AMCAS submitted date is appropriate.

Xaelia, after spending some more time on SDN, I am finding more and more people who have lost their accounts due to the remodeling of the website.

Given that so many profiles have been erased on the new website, do you think you can try the migration again? Sorry I understand that you are busy. And I understand that you don't want to lose any new updates people have made, but it has only been 9 hours since the site has been up.

Losing any updates within the past 9 hours seems minuscule to the many, many months of updates someone has put into their entire account.

Just a thought... Thanks for considering.

i think it was just that i got one right before it was closed, so by the time i saw the email and tried to approve it, it wouldn't let me. now it's lost forever . . . i bet it was the world's first med-school acceptance via MDapps comment too

we do appreciate it. its true though that a lot of us use it as our primary way to keep ourselves organized . . . if i knew it was going to undergo this big change i would have put it all into excel or something. i guess i missed the memo.

Trying to ameliorate some of the problems logging in by eliminating the little similar applicants box to speed it up. That's why it's no longer there.

The old site had undeniable advantages. I think the new site will evolve over time to meet everyone's needs, but today is not a good day! 🙂
