MDapps is down :(

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The troubleshooting team was able to identify and fix the login issue over the weekend. They also made a change that should address the email issue as well.

I have not been able to verify these fixes myself as I am on a super slow wireless connection that keeps failing, but I will check them out this afternoon. We apologize for the delay in getting these issues fixed.

Please let us know if you continue to have any issues by either updating this thread or submitting a ticket to the help desk, http://help.studentdoctor.net.
I created an account and no email was sent :/

Already checked the spam, nothing. Now I can't use the same email to try registering

omfg! Well, looks like I'll be doing the same thing I did for med school: apply to an insane number of programs and start withdrawing once I receive a certain target of interviews (since I clearly can't base it on acceptances like med school).

I cant seem to log in anymore. Is this still an issue for some?

Who's the new hottie in your avatar? 🙂 Me likey

Some cute Indian chick as a tribute to my gf.

In other news, I am not a hot girl. This has been beaten to a hot, red slurpy pulp.

Lmao just came across an SDNer's MDapps in which they plagiarized another SDNer's LOI.

LOI written/published on MDapps in 2006:http://mdapplicants.com/profile.php?id=6325

I was recently placed on hold for interview at the UC Irvine, School of Medicine and I am writing you with the hope that my application will be reconsidered for interview. Your school is one of my top choices because I feel strongly that I am an excellent match for your school and that your school is a perfect match for my goals. If I am granted an interview, I believe your admissions committee will see how we will mutually benefit from my acceptance at your school.

^Ehhh, I really don't think that's plagiarized. The 2010 applicant wrote many LOI's, applied for multiple cycles (3-4 times it seems) and was crazy dedicated. I don't think he/she would've potentially given it all up for 2-3 standard sentences.

Also, neither of those statements is very unique; pretty standard.

Standard, sure. Word for word, though?

Pretty sure that level of similarity was not by chance.

I personally found it vapid and think it's an example of a rather poorly written LOI. :/ Anyone else on the same page? I put a heck of a lot more gusto and originality in mine. I want it to pop not fizzle.

Sent from my iPhone using SDN Mobile app. Please excuse brevity and/or typos.

I agree, I wouldn't say it's compelling at all.

It's been a really challenging thing to troubleshoot because it is not failing consistently or for all users. We have a team looking at it and hopefully will have an update tomorrow.

Thanks for the work you all put into the site. It really does help us all keep track of our application process.

Still down today too still cannot login

On FF I am getting : "The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies."

I am set to accept cookies.

Similar things are happening with IE and Safari on two different machines. I simply cannot login. 🙁

+1

This webpage has a redirect loop
Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

An sdn worker supposedly fixed my account. Still no dice.

I think the search function on MDapps is broken. When doing a search, profiles updated after some arbitrary date in the past few months don't show up.

Test case:

1) Find a profile where someone has recently updated one of their school's status to "accepted." Let's use Temple as an example.

2) Go to the search function. Search for all accepted profiles for Temple by clicking the radio button for "accepted" and select Temple in the dropdown box.

3) Look at the results. The search won't return the profile from step 1. I'm guessing that profiles updated in the past 2-3 months are not reflected using the search function.

Thrown this back to the team again to try and resolve. Clearly whatever they did that we thought solved the problem didn't do it.

On the plus side, the search issue got resolved, not that you can login to see it. I was able to login Wednesday and get recent search results.

👍

Can you also consider adding the newly accredited MD schools?
UC Riverside
Quinnipiac (Netter)
Central Michigan
Western Michigan

I don't know all of them, so there might be more, and I think there's a few additional DO schools too.

The redirect problem strikes again!
