you're missing out- some MMOs are amazing. I speak from the past though. I used to be a hardcore gamer 10 years ago (I'm a bit older) but I dunno I'm not into all the new MMOs I'm the type that keeps revisiting my favorite games from the past. I liked team fortress back in the day- and counterstrike. Never played DOOM. Tried WoW and wasnt a fan of the level cap. Right now all I do is league of legends and/or DOTA 2. 30min-1hr games and pretty fun; easy to put down.

I'm a bit older myself (early 30's), and I would say that like 1993-2003 was my real gaming prime. I was the perfect age when Wolf3D, Doom, Duke3D, Quake, Diablo 1 and 2 et al came out. Man, the '90s had some great PC games. Not to even mention the great NES and SNES era RPG's.... /nostalgia

Xbox One FPS fanatic here. Played MLG Halo and MW2 back in the day. Still wreck kids on halo and occasionally Destiny. Definitely bringing my Xbox to school but will only play in moderation.

Halo and Destiny are where it's at. I was super serious about halo back in the day too. Was not ideal to cut back once in med school...

I love how your avatar is Fallout. Literally played that game ALL summer in 2010. Incredibly excited about Fallout 4 release

Yeah I'm in the same boat (almost 30) and played diablo 1, 2, wc 1,2,3 HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC :soexcited: and super metroid and stuffs. Snes and nintendo 64 in the 90s was where it was at. And yeah I stopped RPG'ing in like 2005. Got way into Starcraft and Custom maps on wc III too.

Goldeneye no oddjob, lets go

Fallout is by far my favorite game franchise 🙂. I have liked every iteration from the isometric Fallout RPG's of the early 90's through Fallout NV. I am actually working on like my 5th full replay of Fallout NV as we speak .

I never stopped RPG'ing. But, the RPG's are only going to be reserved for school breaks once classes start 😉. Hence, my lamentation that Witcher III is coming out just before I move . And you had to go and mention Metroid....Now I have something else to add to my "replay for like the 49th time before school starts" list.

Believe it or not I was actually a little scared of Doom when I played it back in the day. Recently played a Playable Trailer on the PSN and it scared the crap out of me. I don't do scary games. 👽

Every play Conkers Bad Fur Day on the N64, that game was amazing...I had to play it in secret so my parents didn't see what it was about , Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Starfox, Pokemon Stadium, Legend of Zelda...the list just goes on and on. I still have my N64.

lol for any of you ATSU rats I wouldn't mind LANing if it works for everyone during breaks haha- I doubt my wife will object. And for the record, all of those games, I played like an addict. Loved perfect dark multiplayer with that scope gun that goes through the walls. So cheap. Pokemon stadium is really fun especially with multiplayer lol (I can't believe I'm saying this haha). Starfox was so amazing. Beat that game over and over and Ocarina of Time is probably a game I could sit down and play and beat right now. I remember begging my dad to get it for me at Target when I was in forth grade and spending 2 weeks just jumping and doing flips in the kokiri village because the gfx were so good. :hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry:

Oh did I ever say Bomberman 64? Or Supersmash? :O

Omg....

CSGO is my downfall.

I'm probably gonna sell my Steam account to my friend and by a macbook air to castrate myself of video games.

I kinda am addicted and would rather just cut all video games out of my life before school starts.

Currently going thru far cry 3 but tempted by BioShock trilogy going for 10 bucks right now. Steam sales hurt my wallet so bad.

ahh a man after my own heart.

Seriously giving up video games is a good thing, because CS:GO(I used to play competitively, as well as Smite) nearly caused me to seriously screw up some preclinical classes.

I just got battlefield hardline. It's pretty disappointing. It feels like a mod of battlefield 4; not a professionally developed game.

Ahh, Pokemon Stadium! I wish I still had my N64. Did you ever play Jet Force Gemini?

If you're efficient, there's plenty of time to game in med school. This semester so far, I have successfully started and fully finished both Far Cry 4 and the enormous beast known as Dragon Age Inquisition while still being married, working out, and making strong grades.

The graphics blew my mind away, I still remember those games being $20.00, and now games are $60 😡. I still buy pokemon games from time to time for the 3DS, its worth it. They're making or have already made remakes of those games, but to me the original is still the best. What if they made a new Pokemon Stadium game like how the Skylanders games are, where you have to have the toy. Idk about you guys but I wouldn't mind collecting them all :greedy: (and being broke).

Don't go cold turkey. You should slowly lay off the games, its in your blood.

Jet Force Gemini was amazing, but very hard for me. I got stuck on one part and never beat the game, kept running out of ammo and then I just +pissed+ haha.

I mean come on- I want to be the very best, like no one ever was. But how the heck am I supposed to master all the names of more than 150 pokemon. #IGIVEUP

I recently treated myself to acquiring Wolfenstein and Metro Redux for the X1. As an FPS fanatic I was curious if you had a recommendation on which one I should tackle first.

I play Minecraft if any of you want to join.

Minecraft, now there is something that I have sank an embarrassingly large amount of time in😕. My friends and I run a private survival server and periodically all get on and build some sort of massive castle. Let me say for the record, manually mining ~65,000 blocks of netherack to make netherbricks for a big grim castle took some time .

I like trying to make the farrr reaching assumption that my patience in building houses in minecraft will make me a good surgeon...LOL

Haven't played either, I stick to the big blockbuster games (halo, call of duty, battlefield, destiny)

Well, at a minimum if Creepers are on an anatomy test you will be ready to go!!

Oh man I got hooked on WoW long ago. RPG games are addictive but after I've been playing em I find other games boring. This is a gap year for me so I don't care for now, but definitely unsubscribing before med school. I've never played consistently - mostly go back to playing on summers/winter breaks. Quit for my masters degree last year too. Until fall, just killin time. No shame!

Memorize them while studying for anatomy...2 birds with 1 stone. :phantom:

PC or Console?

No NBA 2k gamers? 😛

I play sports games just so other can feel good about themselves. Thats how bad I am at them. I see your icon is a Rose jersey, feel bad for the guy, he's always injured.

I was a huge gamer in high school and college, but had to really cut out most of my gaming to do well in medical school. In my gap year I amassed about 1000 hours on CSGO with some LoL sprinkled in there. I made the decision to stop playing those games cold turkey style, and only play them during breaks which has worked so far.

Now I do still play games during the school year, but much less time consuming ones, and I do not touch them on weekends before tests. Hearthstone has been a really good game to fill those times when I'm bored but don't want to enter into a game that will take 30 mins-1 hr to complete. So it's possible to do well and play, you just need to be extremely disciplined with yourself.

Anyone thinking of getting ESO in June...? I was never big on PC gaming and I'm kind of skeptical on how good Elder Scrolls will be as an MMO on an Xbox One...

I don't know how I'm going to deal with Halo 5 being released this fall. Huge halo fan but will be trying to completely stop gaming at least for the first semester to adjust to the curriculum.

I don't think you'll have the time to level/equip your character properly. I like RPGs and mmo's but I haven't played them really in the last 5 or 6 years because I don't have the time.

I am in a similar boat. I was really looking forward to Metal Gear Phantom Pain, but now I am not sure how I am going to have anytime to play it...I guess there is always winter break? I was going to try to sneak in a honeymoon at that time point, but I am sure my fiance will understand...and possibly not kill me? hahaha
