I just came up a little hierarchy for med schools

1st tier: Ivyleagues, NYU, UCSF, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Baylor, UPenn, Wash U, Duke, Vanderbilt, UChicago

2nd tier: Flagship State Schools (UTSouthwestern, Michigan, Univ. Florida, UWash, OHSU, UC's, OSU, Rutgers, UVA, U. New Mexico, Uof Arizona ), Good Private Schools (University of Miami, Case Western), Boston University, Mt. Sinai (?), Dartmouth, UNC Chapel Hill, USC, Tufts, Howard, Emory, St. Louis, U Wisconsin, U Minnesotta, UMass, Stony Brook

3rd tier: Regional State Schools: (UCF, USF, MSU, Eastern Carolina, UToledo, UCincinnati, NE Ohio Wright State, UT-Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Rio Grande, North Texas, Washington State, Louisville, Wayne State). Smaller Private Schools (Rush, Rosalind Franklin, Einstein, Drexel, Temple, Tulane, George Washington, Morehouse, Mercer, Georgetown, Brigham Young, Florida State). Flagship schools of more rural states (Creighton, South Dakota, Alabama, LSU, U Mississippi, University of Arkansas, Kentucky, U West Virginia, University of Kansas, U. Kansas City), SUNYs, Yeshiva.

4th tier: New regional MD schools (Nova Southeastern, FIU, FAU, CUNY, Indiana University-Evansville, Arizona: Pheonix, Tennessee Johnson City), Religious Schools (Loma Linda and Liberty), Puerto Rican MD schools (San Juan, Caribe), Unranked Med Schools.

5th Tier: Good DO Schools (Nova South Eastern, LECOM- PA, Touro, MSU, West Virginia, Philadelphia, NYIT)
6th Tier: Rest of DO Schools
7th Tier: Top International (Non-Canadian)Schools: Oxford, Cambridge, Peking University (CN), Moscow State(RU), Graz/Vienna (AT), Tokyo, University of Sydney, Shanghai Jiatong, Seoul National University, Marie Curie Institute, National University of Singapore
8th Tier: Top 4 Carribean Schools
9th tier: Good International Schools: Jagiellonian University, Most Universities in Germany, UK, and Australia, Best University in Mexico, Brazil, India, Malaysia, Turkey, Lebanon, Argentina, Colombia, etc.)
10th tier: Rest of Caribbean/International Schools

And Yeshiva= Albert Einstein and is definitely considered “better” than schools like Stony Brook.

Also Einstein is no longer affiliated with Yeshiva. Montefiore Hospital is the accredited degree-granting organization. Would put it in the Tier 2 but don't wanna toot my own horn (as an Einstein student) and also don't really care. Rankings are dumb.

My school is 4th tier because it doesn’t participate in the rankings. Seems like solid reasoning to me.

The 2nd tier makes no sense, imo. UofArizona, New Mexico, UMass, etc are schools that people outside the region will know nothing about. They are regional. St Louis is a small private. Howard is tier 2?

From my observations, I think many programs see top international schools (for non-US grads) > many DO applicants. People coming from Cambridge/Oxford are top students in their country, usually have a strong research background, and their schools are known to be high quality. In the small competitive field I’m applying to, Ive seen more non-US IMGs than DOs (might change now that the merger is done)

There is a small tier 1 and a small tier 2. Then most MD schools are in a tier 3

No I’d say there’s tier 3 and 4. There are some mid tiers out there that are very well-connected (Einstein, Miami, USC, BU). Tier 4 is MD’s below that

Tbh just look at match lists. If you see a lot of home program matching and other strong programs, it’s a high tier school. This will just jump out at you

Idk, a lot in your 5th tier seem better than what you listed as 4th tier

I don't think this will work.

Lmao, what was the point of this? Did you gain something from doing this?

Also, to just humor your argument, not all the Ivy leagues are 1st tier. You’re gonna tell me Brown is better than Michigan? Lmao come on bruh.
