Have any working PharmD's or pharmacy students been offered a contract by Medco Health Solutions - such as to receive 4 years of tuition assistance in exchange for a 4-year commitment to work at Medco??

I've just passed the 30-day mark at Medco and should receive an interview request from UF's college of pharmacy within the next 4-6 weeks. While the standard info is that you can be reimbursed for coursework if you continue to work 25 hrs/week, I've been told that there are lesser-known and more enticing opportunities that won't kill your chances of graduating pharmacy school with a heavy work schedule.

If I inform HR and my senior pharmacists if/when I get past 6 months at Medco AND have a letter of acceptance in hand, will I be offered a contract to continue on at Medco after graduation? If you have details, great. If you don't want to spill those details on a public forum, a PM would be nice too.

Not sure if your reason is concern over being locked into one company or other reasons.

So far I like this company a lot, it's not retail, and having one of the 1/4 pharm jobs that is not retail sounds good, esp. with the lion's share of tuition paid by someone other than my family. We can afford it if we have to.

Having said that, if i can continue at my current pace (4.0 prepharm/97 pcat) then it's possible i could even get a look at a research job, which is even more scarce than mail order jobs.

stop putting the cart before the horse...get into pharmacy school before you start worrying about this. Plus once you get in your mind will change many times over what you want to do when you graduate
