Medical Contracts Attorneys

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know how to go about finding a reputable attorney to go through a contract for employment? Should I just look online or is there some other source that may be more helpful?

One of my attendings is an MD/JD specializing in contracts. He routinely reviews offers. PM me if you want the name.

My attorney also reviews contracts regularly.

Much of the stuff that you need to be aware of, you yourself should pick up after reading through the contract and you need to do so before you send it to a lawyer to review to have a list of questions you need answered on top of what he/she might find.

Is it better to have an attorney read it from the State where I am going to be practicing? I know if an attorney where I am currently but he is not familiar with the laws of the state where I have an offer.

expect $300-500 per hour with about 3 hours of work...

That's about right.

Mine was $375/hour with total of about 2.5 hrs of work.

You can also ask your future colleagues (but not your employer) who are regarded as good attorneys in town with medical contract experience. Its how I found mine...even my employer complimented me on my choice (guess her attorney said something about mine being excellent).
