Medical School Application Updates?

Hello,

I am wondering what everyones thoughts are regarding providing letters of update for my medical school application. In my secondary applications regarding what I was going to do during my gap year, I informed them that I was enrolled in a CNA class that would be starting later in the year. However, I unenrolled and started a full time position as a phlebotomist. I am worried if I update it will come across wrong. However, I am gaining a lot of valuable clinical experience as a phlebotomist. I see conflicting information about if letters of update make a difference in the application review process. If it would be best to write a letter, I am also wondering what I should include. Let me know what you all think. Thank you so much 🙂

Updates work better after you interview at a program. So if you have had no interviews to date, your focus should be on your reapplication.

Thank you! I appreciate your replies, does it make a difference I applied with little hospital experience? My only in hospital experience I had was volunteering, I have clinical/direct patient care experience, however none "paid" in the hospital.

Hello all! I am looking for help creating my school list to apply for MD schools.

1. cGPA: 3.65, sGPA: 3.58
2. MCAT: 495(124/124/123/124) -> 508 (126/128/126/128)
3. Wisconsin resident
4. White female
5. Liberal Arts school in MN
6. Clinical experience:
-Volunteer-100 hours escorting patients to various parts of hospital.
-Paid: 2000 as PCA
7. Research: Independent physics research project where I built a working desktop CT scanner (500 hours), no publications
8. Shadowing: 60 hours (Dermatology, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Emergency Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology)...
