Medical School Update Question

Is it necessary to send an update to medical schools at the end of Fall semester with grades?

Say for example you receive a 3.5 cumulative gpa fall semester, should you update schools with this knowing that your amcas science and cumulative gpa are significantly higher?

Will receiving a few more B's than usual during senior year fall/spring hurt your chances of medical school acceptance?

So far 1 interview at this point, but no decision received from remaining 20+ schools

FYI: personal AMCAS stats

cumulative gpa: 3.86
Science gpa: 3.79
MCAT: 10,9,10 R

You aren't required to include all of your grades in an update letter. It would be prudent to avoid letting schools know that you have a downward grade trend. You can decide to include any good grades though

I doubt that your GPA is producing any doubts for adcoms. Ideally, your update letter would address weaknesses in your application that you've been working to fix since application.

In short, grades shouldn't be the focus of your update letter. Your GPA is great.

Thanks, I will look into improving my EC's as MCAT is out of question at this point, and the last thing I want to do is study for it again.
