I am currently a medical scribe now working FT and I will be attending med school in August. I'm considering getting a scribe job located near my school and working 2-4 shifts per month. How do others feel about working + school? To me, it'll be a way to get to know the ER system/docs/way med is practiced in Las Vegas (where I'll be attending school), and a way to BORROW LESS and be flexible to pick up shifts in the ER.

I didn't work during medical school at all (other than some paid research between 1st and 2nd year, when I wasn't in class). Most likely, working 2 - 4 shifts isn't going to pay you enough to really reduce your loan burden, but it WILL take away from your study and/or break time.

There's some good info in this thread:

TL;DR version: don't work. Use that time to either study or recuperate with family/friends/dog/whatever. People do fail out of medical school. People do get diverted into specialties that they don't want because their USMLE Step 1 score closed doors for them. Don't be that person.
