Hah, that's quite fun.

I got a 47 for neurology, which is surprisingly what I've always wanted to every since pursuing medicine

Hah, cool post, surprised by the outcome of my test because my top hit (radiology) may be the very last thing I saw myself doing haha. Nonetheless i guess you never know what you may end up liking...what do I know I haven't even started med school yet

Psychiatry was the top hit for me -_-

Top 3 were rads, emergency med and peds... kinda random

Occupational medicine, pathology and rheumatology. Sigh :(

Derm was #4 though :D

Funny. My top 3 were thoracic surgery, general surgery, and preventative medicine. I've wanted to do trauma surgery since I was 14.

Not necessarily. Last time I did it, I got 3-4 specialties around 10-19% and a smattering of lower percentages for other specialties.

1 urology 43
2 radiology 43
3 neurosurgery 43
4 emergency med 41
5 dermatology 41
6 colon & rectal surgery 41
7 thoracic surgery 41
8 otolaryngology 41
9 orthopaedic surgery 40
10 ophthalmology 40
11 plastic surgery 40

Didn't tell me what I didn't already know about myself. That's I'll probably be going into something procedure/surgery based.

Lol, I had not considered any of these except Peds. Aerospace med, no thanks.

As of now, I want to do pediatric neurology. This test is pretty freakin' accurate. Cool! Thanks for sharing.

Haha awesome. So random.

I think this one is definitely much better.

I am not sure: I got totally different results. It is literally opposite with all surgery top matches through buffalo and all surgery bottom matches through UVA...

:)

But I'm leaning toward EM or general IM right now. Lol.

I am interested in psychiatry which ranked #1. I am also interested in neurology but it ranked 29 and neurosurgery 30. Also, I used few extremes for my answers (i.e. strongly agree/disagree).

Oh really? It nailed my interests really well. More importantly, I liked how they showed the data of each specialty and the distribution of people in each specialty answering the same question. It helps me see how others actually in that specialty feel about those topics.

Hmmm...I never really saw myself in the top 3. Results are a bit off of what I anticipated, but I started losing focus after the 40th question, lol. I'm actually interested in trauma and intensive care medicine. :D

My top 5:

1 physical med & rehabilitation 44
2 rheumatology 43
3 endocrinology 43
4 allergy & immunology 42
5 preventive med 42

Not remotely interested in any of these. But only time will tell what specialty I'll end up being. Right now I'm interested in Neurology and EM.

Thoracic and general surgery I can see, but radiology and psychiatry? I don't think so.

yeah, I don't think it was really useful. The questions weren't worded in a way to get a whole lot of meaning out of them. I ended up just hitting 'agree' for almost all of them. The buffalo one seemed better, though still not great.

Questions are repeated many times on purpose for scoring.

Pretty on for me surprisingly. Minus GI and derm

I did the Duke one a while back, which looks like the same thing.

My top ten were:

Radiation Oncology
Medical Oncology
Neurology
Psychiatry
Child Neurology
Infectious Diseases
Allergy and Immunology
Dermatology
Rheumatology
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Yeah the Duke one is the original I think but the Buffalo one was the link I had. I found it to be really accurate for me -- it picked ENT, urology, gastroenterology, pulm/CC, etc. to be all in the top. Those are definitely my fields of most interest -- I'm really attracted to the "hands-on" aspects of medicine but I love the thought process and patient interactions of clinical medicine too.

Pretty consistent results between the UVA and Buffalo tests, especially at the top:

Tentative plan:

High Step 1 --> Derm/Radonc

Median Step 1 --> IM --> Allergy/Rheum/ID fellowship

Low Step 1 --> Psych/Family Practice/Killself

I can't get the Buffalo one to work past step 1. Done it 5 times and by the time I get through step 2 and on to step 1 it tells me I haven't completed step 1 and to do that first. Ugh...Mac issue? Browser maybe? (I use Safari.) I would like to try it as I have done the UVa inventory several times over the past few years with remarkably similar results....
