Another first year student and I have started the Medical Student Business Association or MSBA at our medical school as a group focused on enlightening, motivating, and educating medical students about the business aspect of practicing medicine. The speakers that we host range from medical entrepreneurs to private physicians and even health care business consultants. This is great! It's critical to get exposed to these issues during medical school and to understand the practical elements as you enter the clinical world. Most people have no idea about these issues when they finish their training, so be progressive!

If there are people from other medical schools interested in setting up a similar organization you can contact us through the blog.

Let's empower ourselves as the future physicians. We cannot let political games destroy our practices. We should be dictating how we practice medicine. We can do this by educating ourselves early on in our training on the business, political, and financial aspects of medical practice.
