I looked through the forms but I may not have done the most thorough job so if this has been asked before, feel free to delete or redirect.

I was looking at scribe jobs on Indeed and I have already written some HR departments about this. However, would an online certification from edX or coursera or another course be an acceptable proof of competency for medical terminology familiarity in scribing? Would it confer any benefit?

Scribing jobs are a dime a dozen. The agencies posting those jobs will hire anyone and the pay is abysmal. They know they can take advantage of you and justify the low pay because they are aware you need the experience to attempt to get into medschool. I commuted 1.5 hours one way for a job that paid $8.00/hr. Ultimately didn't need it because my other ECs were enough for acceptances. Rant over..

But you don't need to pay for a course to get that certificate. Once the agency contacts you, they will provide all the material and documents you will need for the particular specialty you will be scribing for.

Thank you. I won't then as the courses can become rather expensive and some places are offering it as if it were a university minor. Would you mind sharing some EC's you've done so that I could get some other ideas?

For clinical experience, I've volunteered in the ER of a hospital, shadowed some primary care physicians, have countless jobs exhibiting leadership, etc.

If you are curious about your competitiveness, go to the WAMC forum and create a profile. There more eyes will see your post and give you an honest assessment of your competitiveness, provide advice on what you will need further or not, and even provide lists of schools.
