Woohoo! I just got into Medical University of South Carolina...it was funny cause i called them and asked the secretary my status and she said, and i quote, "I can't tell you whether you got in or not but it's good news. You should be receiving a letter in a couple of days."...I screamed into the phone and I think i blew her eardrums out but i was just so excited. I got into my other state school but this was the one i really wanted! Now i can get my deposit back from the other school and drink again tonight....Best of luck to everyone waiting!

hey surf,
CONGRATS on the acceptance!!! i just interviewed at MUSC last week, and was wondering how long it took them to get back to you. i know the committee meets the last tuesday of the month, but after that, how long did it take? The other applicants there were really nice and diverse. would you mind posting or PMing me your stats, EC, experiences? MUSC is my top choice and i'm trying to gage my chances.

Hey Streetdoc-
Yeah, i really really loved MUSC...the people there were so nice and the facilities were much better than USC ithought. My numbers are not great. I had a 3.56 overall (from Duke), 3.30 science and 28 MCAT. My EC were pretty solid i think. I'm actually taking a year off right now doing AmeriCorps service work in San Francisco but i'm from Charleston (Mt. Pleasant) originally. But i guess if we live in SC we're very lucky. My premed advisor says SC is the easiest state in the nation to get into medical school. If you got an interview at MUSC you have a really good chance of getting in. I think they take more than half of their interviewed applicants. Even if you have one bad interview there they make a concerted effort to ask you to come back for another interview so they treat their applicants very fairly.

Your're right, they do meet on the last tues of every month. They then send out their decision letter the next day, on Wednesday so you should be receiving it by that friday or sat at the latest. It's a very fast turnaround after the decision is made. Well, i hope i didn't forget anything. Feel free to reply if you have any more questions. Best of luck! Oh yeah, did you interview with Dr. Lyles? I remember he was so cool cause his interview consisted of walking around the hospital...it was more like a tour!
