Does anyone have a tattoo that's somewhat related to medicine? I have a ECG on my left chest (unfortunately though, he did a wenckebach block 😎)

I persononally prefer a concealable tattoo, that can be hidden with a short sleeve scrub. But one of my classmates have a dopamine molecule on her forearm since it's her field of science. it's quite neat but i wouldn't be wearing a short sleeve around patients etc.

Does anyone have some interesting tattoos? Or maybe some ideas worth sharing

The Caduceus staff and snakes on the back is a popular one.

It's also the hilariously wrong one. Should be the rod of Asclepius with the single serpent.

Edit: I might have just ruined an excellent practical joke.

What field are you going into?

I've always had a thing for cardiology, but might as well be intensive care medicine.

Ah, when you're mentioning Long dong's tattoo, it remebers me that I've seen some paramedics with the rod of asclepius aswell. I haven't seen many tattoos on MD's, guess it's more common on nurses and other staff.

Im going into urology so I tattooed a gigantic penis on my back

The tattoos I want either cost too much or I want over scars (which is a no-no).

So, nothing. The pricey one is a vector dna double helix w/ "science is truth" going up my side. It's never seen in clinic and the example illustrations look really nice. Unfortunately, I refuse to pay $900 for that.👎

I might be in a relationship with medicine but no, it's not getting any skin. What if we break up?

Why is over a scar a no-no?
There are tattoo artists who specialize in tattoos on scars; my wife went to one years after she had a car accident which left her with a scar on her leg from her femur repair. Most tattoo artists won't do them, but eventually she got referred to one who knew how and the outcome was fantastic.

Don't mind me, just scouting this thread for future laser-removal patients of mine.

My avatar is the tattoo I intend to get upon graduation.

I can't believe none of you are considering this:

I would get it but I don't have big enough muscles.

Most require a long time before they do it. Partly because scars can strongly distort the end-image. Even if you think it's fully healed; how you're applying the tattoo is affected by the scar. It's kind of a crap-shoot because you don't know how it'll react to the injection. It could come out clean or be completely fubar'd.

I know there are artists that specialize, but they charge a lot more. I understand that completely but it's not a price I'm willing to pay atm. It's something I really want, but I want to wait it out and see if the scar heals anymore. Considering my skin tends to keloid/not heal properly, I can understand the hesitation from artists.

I plan on getting one over my shoulder blade once I get closer to my medical school graduation. I have wanted it for years and it will be concealed by scrubs.
