👍
I do miss MedPR's random comments.

I think he and NickNaylor are the posters I see most often, but I have a huge SDN crush on NickNaylor. 😍

This thread is getting weird....

Agreed Winged Scapula.. I'm not really sure where this thread is heading though... wish the discussion ended.

You too? We should all start a fan club or something 😀

So... Eight pages, huh?

Its like 19 pages on the Mobile App.

Since the subject of this thread is monitoring it and posting comments on his MDApps (with the latest one directed at me), I thought I would clarify some things:

1) Post Holds are not made for isolated incidences of TOS violations;
2) to obtain a Post Hold, a user has to show an inability to stay within the confines of the TOS despite prior warnings;
3) it is the PATTERN of behavior that will get many users Banned or PH; you can't necessarily look at the last post and surmise that was the reason for the action; even minor infractions can lead to PH or Banning if there is a prior pattern of infractions;
4) the length of PH will vary;
5) the vast vast majority of SDN users are able to stay within the TOS; you have to wonder what's going on when someone can't;
6) we don't discuss why someone has Administrative action against their account, so speculate away;
7) we don't artificially fill In Boxes or take PMs away; each user has a set number of allowed PMs in their In Boxes depending on status and if they are a Donor. Users put on PH automatically get a reduction in their In Box capacity; this is not done individually or to persecute someone.

I hope that helps clarify things.

I see physician and faculty in your badge area, does that mean you take part in academic medicine?

Sorry Winged Scapula. I didn't mean to provoke your actions. It's pretty clear as to why MedPR was on hold (even before your response), but I didn't expect the thread to run 8 pages discussing random things.

Are you really cougariffic?

Depends. Send me a picture. 😉

:laugh:

No worries.

I feel like there is a lot of misunderstanding about the Infraction system every time someone popular gets dinged with anguished cries of, "why oh why are these Mods so unfair", blah blah blah. I figured a little transparency (without revealing specific details) wouldn't hurt.

I also feel bad when I see so many naifs getting trolled.

:shrug: I thought this page would work, guess not. Still, it's pretty much clear that no one is above the SDN TOS regardless of the popularity they have.

I got a PM from MedPR last night. Speculate away.

I heard that he is typing up responses to each thread posted in his absence in a Microsoft Word document and he will come back and post in each thread as if he was never gone.

There is no hope for us SDNers with our current post counts. Damn. 🙁

Ah, see you are assuming that 1) people read these things and 2) think that any administrative action possibly applies to them.

I have heard all sorts of wild explanations for multiple accounts, racist comments, trolling, etc. to last me a lifetime.

👍 Also, I noticed that the TOS is in the bottom left corner, but I don't think anyone even looks at it. Compared to other forums' TOS, this one is pretty straightforward to read.

I discovered that a little while ago, the SPORKS part confused me a bit because I had no idea that people did that. I also didn't know you could single members out for doing that 😕

I think only admins/mods can detect SPORKS. But it's pretty unnecessary, since there's always a delete option below.

Not to get all inception-like, but isn't this thread a violation of the ToS? How is it open?

It's funny because 2-3 days before his account was put on hold, I warned him to check himself because he has essentially made himself identifiable through this site and MDApps by posting his stats, demographics, school outcomes, etc. and finds it acceptable to write some controversial and borderline-insulting comments throughout the forums. (Especially given the other recent SDN'er who had his acceptance rescinded due to inappropriate comments). Hopefully this will teach him a lesson, as the SDN moderators clearly have a reason to put his account on hold, and he will start to be a little more cognizant of the impact of his comments on this site. Yes, this is the internet, but more people read these forums than we think and you never know what will really offend people so it's best to err on the side of caution. Just my honest opinion.

I don't know. Not intending to be rude here, but would it be ok if everyone just stop posting in this thread. We are doing medpr a disservice by violating his privacy and we are questioning the mod's actions. Winged Scapula took the time to post here. So I think it's better if we just let the thread die. Sorry for my harshness and I hope you understand. Thanks

because the mods have locked this thread and all, right?

Maybe not. But it's better to let the thread die. Take my advice if you want to.

It should have been locked a long time ago. Other threads mentioning specific users get locked very quickly; I don't really understand why this one is any different.

If MedPR really wanted his privacy, he wouldn't be leaving messages through his MDApps. 😕 It's just a silly thread, and it shouldn't be taken so seriously. 🙄

It gives me a good laugh though :laugh: 👍

Several other threads are accomplishing this for me at the moment. 😀

"Let this thread die"
"Why isn't this thread locked?"
"Why is this thread still going?"

Everyone CHILL OUT. You guys take SDN too seriously.
