i noticed they r minority schools and their stats seem to be lower than other schools.

I am Indian (born in country india) but i moved here since i was 9. Am i considered a 'minority' ?

Ethnic groups that have a tendency to work hard and value education, and are thus "overrepresented" are not considered minorities.

Indian falls into this category as well, therefore, you should save your money and not apply.

No you are not. You are an Asian and not an URM. 🙂

There are over 60 dental schools in the US, and you are really concerned about what your "status" is at 2 of them?

Every cycle a thread like this starts, and it is quickly shut down, b/c it always turns into a race thread...which is played out and ignorant...and looks like someone already chimmed in with their ignorance.

I think it's funny that the ADEA Guide defines Asians as a minority, having only around 8% of the spots for practicing dentists....yet when it comes to admissions, Asians are "overrepresented".

there is a difference between "minority" and URM.

Meharry & Howard are URM friendly.

Asians tend to be on the upper end of the spectrum in terms of their stats? Does that not require hard work?

It's no secret that Asian culture places high emphasis on education.

Funny how stating the truth is always considered to be "ignorant."

Yes it requires hard work. But the ADEA/dental schools say the country doesn't need more asian dentists. They're overrepresented for the percentage of people they make up in the overall population. That's what they're saying. Like it or not, that's the truth.

👍 The truth hurts

Oh lawd, not this again. Search function URM and you will get everything you need to know.

Short story, like everyone said, no you aren't a URM. You are just a minority.
