Meme WWar GAME THREAD

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Whatever. Pile on. Criticize my move to block memebase. No one seemed to get all upset other than me when I was blocked (as well as our group ability). When I do a similar action, you all pile on.

Once again, watch out villagers when crossing DVMD. Her way or the highway. My writeup will prove I am not a wolf.

I don't have that useful an ability luckily, but be wary of who is moved or moving people into 4chan to assume control.

I could force a tie with FTB if I vote to lynch her, but it's not worth it. She's probably king arthur. Again, I don't have any credibility, so lynch FFM

Peace out.

No where did I say that is was my way or the highway... I posted my thoughts.... some people agreed, some did not... but way to go putting the nail in your own coffin...

A neutered 4chan would be no fun. I don't want to deal with everyone's hurt feels that they don't get to use their powers. I have disrupted the game enough.

I know. haha. I copy and pasted someone else's list and didnt copy and paste my own 😉 didnt even notice til someone else PMd me and pointed out what i posted was missing that. Thankfully, my paper notes had it right.

Guess I shouldn't have gone to the grocery story hungry, that took a little longer than I expected and I still forgot to get cereal! Not a wolf and not sure if I'm going to get lynched.

Chaos erupted. Absolutely erupted. With no real suspicions to go on, everyone began turning on everyone. The memes fractured off into small groups, each championing a different person for protection and each finger pointing at a second person as most likely to go. The FBI initially had hoped this would be an orderly process, but finally the inevitable happened and the lord of the flies had descended onto the hub of the internet. The biggest question of all, the one on everyone's mind, was if 4chan had been corrupted itself. Surely the hive of villainy and scum must logically be an impure place and have an impure leader… but was it an EVIL leader?

4chan.jpg

Then there was the counter argument that wildcatj is… well…. Lame I guess. Im not sure what the argument against her was. Did anyone actually see one? But the FBI agents were caught off guard having one of their own questioned like this. Instinctively That Redhead and Samoa pushed Wildcat off of her little podium and onto the chaos below. Quickly those who were also pushing for the deaths of ftb, swings and others seemed to be satiated by the idea that there was to be a battle between these two.

But as is the tradition in the land of memes, there can be only one. They must battle to the death a la highlander. They must fight to the bitter end until one person. Both memes are given swords and told that they must fight to the death. Samoa walks down from her own podium to officiate this fight. FFM being a man of considerable strength selects the highlander broad sword. WildcatJ, being a wild… cat… selects a hand-blade. A tiny little claw of a weapon with two blades on it which, honestly, everyone is very shocked about. How in the world can she intend to fight against FFM with that?

3443032_4.jpg

When Samoa signals the fight to begin, WCJ suddenly yells out "stop!". And everyone does pause for a second, including FFM. WCJ turns to Samoa and says "I believe the rules say that cowards get no weapons." Samoa quietly nods but is confused as to the point. WCJ continues "well… woulnd't someone who voted for themselves be a bit of a coward, taking the easy way out?". Samoa seems to contemplate this for a second then agrees. She snaps her fingers and suddenly the giant highlander sword in FFM's hand turns into a pile of useless corrupted data, unable to take physical form in this meme world.

"This is awkward" mutters FFM before WCJ lunges onto him and begins pounding away with her bladed hand in a massacre that can only be called "meat tenderizing." This is the end of Flim Flam Man, The Socially Awkward Penguin, Who would move freely by creeping awkwardly

yeah, you copy and pasted my list, which was simultaneously posted with FH vote and I didn't update my list with FH's vote...

It always sucks to lose a villager, but confuses me when they vote to lynch themselves. Also anyone that gets involved with DVMs arguments confuses me, because try as I might it just seems like useless squabbling. It can be entertaining at times, but also headache inducing.

this is a game that is suppose to be fun and entertaining... I respect FFM for deciding that it was getting beyond that and it wasn't going to get any better. He was in a tough situation, where he was relatively unknowable, and thus untrustable. Even if he survived the lynch, this wouldn't have ever ended for him until he was lynched. While it sucks to lose a villager, if we were to lose a villager, losing a liability such as him is a manageable loss.

if he would have voted for someone else at the end and they turned out to be a villager DVMDream and her butthurt friends would have used that as further "evidence" that he's a wolf anyhow

All that makes sense. It just sucks when people give up.

i'd be taking a long hard look at people who want 4chan gone. no matter what crap DVMD is making up, blocking is a huge bane to the wolves and you can be sure they want to minimize the number of people who can do it.

blocking is by far more benefitial to wolves than it is detrimental. You end up blocking villagers benefitial roles much much more commonly than it does blocking a wolf action. Now, given that this game is group block, you are more likely to block a wolf, but you are also almost guaranteed to block several good villager skills.

Before this game started, I was talking shop with DocE because he is helping me design my first WW game (will be in the lounge probably next month, final fantasy 7 based), and we were discussing just this fact that the prostitute is really a disruptive character and not a good character.

I don't always agree with DocE's opinions on things either...

I have actually been literally prevented from winning a game as a wolf before because I was blocked from killing someone on a night it would have made a huge difference. Perhaps that colors my perception.

Not to get into too deep of a discussion of the theory of mafia games, but I think the blocker/prostitute is really more neutral of a role. In a game where there are about as many special villager abilities as there are wolves, blocking actions has an equal chance of getting both sides. The inherent flaw here is the psychology behind that role and how that person is just as much liable to be killed as a villager, so they would want to side with the villagers and ultimately try and aim their role to assist the villagers.

In THIS game, as far as I can tell we all have roles, at least the villagers do. So this makes the blocking role fall more in favor with the wolves, especially when it is aimed at a group of players, the odds are that more villagers will be blocked than wolves.

I don't know if this means it shouldn't be used. But you have to admit, threatening to use a group power to sub-due another group is kind of a wolfy thing to say. Even though I think that was thrown out in frustration.

whoops just realized that came out like i am actually accusing the people who voted for FFM. i'm actually not. DVMDream does dumb crap like that a lot.

Yeah, but that's easier said after the lynch write-up than when you're trying to figure out if someone's a good lynch candidate with nothing but their word.

Sorry, took longer to type than I thought. My Last post refers to the one with Laurence fishburne (sp?) meme.

and to a wolf group, getting a kill at night every night they possibly can is much more important than a single night's villager investigation/protection in the grand scheme of things. so again things are much more nuanced than you're putting forth.

I can lay out some game theory for you guys on the relevance of blocking roles in game balancing later. It sort of contradicts my role as a neutral mod to discuss how I balance them in any real details mid-game. but safe to say, even in an experimental game like this one, there is a pseudo-math (with actual quantifiable numbers predicted!) to what roles show up. Not that they matter a ton when I'm trying to balance mechanics that are being used in (AFAIK) totally novel ways. But there is a mathematical method to the madness of each role and why its given out.

Samoa receives a phone call late at night. A raspy voice on the other end of the phone says "I can see you. Can you see me?". Samoa freaks out and hangs up the phone. Terrified she is frozen for a few seconds, paralyzed with fear, before realizing this is the time to act. She looks all around her, no one obvious in the room around her, but an endless stretch of darkness out of her two large windows in the room. No way of knowing who is out there, in the darkness, while she is in this brightly lit room. She starts slowly creeping towards the doorway into the next room as if being silent would somehow make a difference. Then there is a SLAM at the window, a pale hand crashing into it. Samoa runs screaming into the next room, partially in fear, partially in fight mode.

thumb_COLOURBOX2489184.jpg

Literally diving into the next room Samoa can hear the sound of something beating against that window repeatedly in the previous room. Small glass figurines on the window sill shake and then crash to the ground, shattering on impact. Thankfully, the lights are off in this room and it gives Samoa, after her eyes adjust, a better sense of what is outside of the window in this room. All she can see is the gentle rolling internet hills that always surround her internet cottage. Looking away from the window she starts slowly moving across the room. Samoa is crawling, flat on the ground, across her living room towards her extensive meme weapon supply, just yards away in the weapon safe. The beating against the window eventually stops and Samoa scrambles on the ground the last few yards to get to the safe. She fumbles with her key, her nervous hands shaking like leaves. She actually drops the key the first time and as she bends over to pick it up a large rock flies through the window in this room just a few feet from Samoa's head it crashes into the wall of the room. Samoa again screams, but quickly regains her wits, tuning out all other stimuli as she picks up the key, jams it into the lock and unlocks it in one amazingly fluid motion. She opens up the safe and has multiple firearms in there, of which she grabs a meme gun loaded with reaction bullets. The most lethal form of firearm in the internet… smarm shot.
rkcwvc.jpg

She still cannot see anyone outside of the window, though the wind outside whistles by the hole in the mirror in a very ominous way, cutting the silence in the least comfortable way possible. For a few seconds all anyone hears is the heavy breathing of Samoa, her gun drawn and aimed out the window, and the whistle of wind moving past the hole in the window. Silence. Silence. Silence. THUD. There is a loud sound on the roof. A second later a second, perhaps heavier, sound hits the roof. Samoa backs herself into the corner of the room, unsure if she should stare at the ceiling or out of the window. The sounds on the roof increase in frequency as at least one, maybe many, heavy objects are moving across her roof causing the beams to creak under the weight. Then comes a very heavy crashing sound down her chimney and a big puff of black soot as something crashes down into her fireplace in the room.

1358292058_8555_gun1.jpg

Whatever it is, Samoa fires right at it two times before she even stops to identify it. As the soot settles down she can make out what came down her chimney. It is the mangled body of TheDrJojo, who was definitely dead before Samoa shot him twice, but was extra dead after the gunshots. Scrambling is heard on the roof followed, a second later, by a heavy thud on the far side of the property. Samoa rushes across to the other side of the cottage to look out the window, but she can't see anything or anyone by the time she gets there. Slowly returning to her living room she sees a soot coated note attached to Jojo's body. It says "The neighborhood watch took care of this peeping tom for you. No one appreciates all the good we do".

TheDrJojo, aka "I have no idea what I'm doing dog", who would acquired items, most recently acquiring Devyn's squinty eyed fry glasses, has been killed

From the write up it seems like he got his item/ability from a dead player. Devyn in this case.

I assume since he said specifically devyn's squinty eyed fry glasses that it was "items" having to do with other players' roles - maybe jojo inherited roles of dead players somehow?

Hmmmm Jojo is an interesting target. So Jojo could acquire items. I wasn't aware of any items in this game. Has anyone received any or did they go exclusively to Jojo?

Wasn't he saying earlier that he could see where items were going or something like that? I think he said I was supposed to get an item the night I died. I'll try to find that post.

DocE messing with our minds, since i know there was an item intended to go to you on day 3 prior to your suicide, that i am not sure if it ever got to you, but i don't believe so.

Ok, that came out way more snarky than I meant. All I meant is that claiming that you're basing your design off some "game theory" or "mathematical model" doesn't really mean much unless those theories and models have been really well validated (first) and really well implemented (second).

I didn't mean it as a personal shot at DocE, who writes some awesome write-ups.

They are extremely well validated. There is a giant community of nerds like me who have rich data sets on real life impacts of each role.

Implementation is where I'm probably screwing it up. Haha. All the math in the world is irrelevant when you're making up new mechanisms (like house linked powers) that eschew anything anyone has data on. Aka: if it is implemented well at all is a crap shoot

I have no idea. This tournament is taking over my life.

lynch PP

won't be back tomorrow till late afternoon. I'm not a wolf, just a villager. I won't be mad if y'all lynch me bc I seriously have no time but for your sake, I wouldn't. And I would watch anyone that goes after me.

My productivity will increase 10 fold now that I'm done with this game 🙁

I hate being productive
