What boundaries are acceptable to push during 3rd and 4th year in terms of men's clothing? Are piercings (studs) ok? I'm gonna tag @HomeSkool in this.
I tend to think in pretty self-protective terms. No one ever got a bad reaction from an attending or patient by leaving the studs home. If you must wear them, keep them simple and understated.
As for other clothing, I always wore slacks with a collared shirt and matching tie. My color scheme is pretty conservative (mostly blues, greens, and grays) because I think I wear those colors well. That doesn't mean I think it's the only acceptable color scheme.
The biggest rule of thumb is to remember that every one of your patients has different values, ideals, comfort zones, and fashion sense, and you're trying to gain the confidence of all of them.

I wouldnt. You’re supposed to be a medical professional, not a half-baked fashion model.
Jeez man. You can't be handing out burns like that on a Monday morning. Ain't nobody brought no aloe.

How you dress is considered part of your Professionalism grading. And yes, it counts. What boundaries are acceptable to push during 3rd and 4th year in terms of men's clothing? Are piercings (studs) ok? I'm gonna tag @HomeSkool in this.
You picked the wrong career then.Honesty it’s because I want to break gender norms and be able to express my individuality.
You're valuing your own ideals and motives over those of your patients, colleagues and profession. I applaud your desires to change cultural norms, but your means to that end should not be down this avenue.Honesty it’s because I want to break gender norms and be able to express my individuality.
Like it not, when you put on that white coat, it sticks to you and you go "into character".
