Hey everyone! I haven't seen anything for the 2016 application cycle for Mercer College of Pharmacy so I thought I would start one! Has anyone applied yet?

I currently attend Mercer undergrad and I am applying to Mercer Pharm school

I am applying as well. Looking forward to it!!!

Yes I submitted PharmCAS in July I am just finishing up the supplemental this week.

I submitted supplemental and PharmCAS on 9/8. Has PharmCAS verified your GPA yet?

Has anyone received an interview invite from mercer yet?

I applied to Mercer. I submitted my pharmcas app in beginning september like 7th or 8th .. My GPA still hasnt been calculated.. they said they never received my transcripts from my current university!!! so upset.. I paid last week for my transcripts to be overnighted and Pharmcas says they still havent received them. I am super worried because I did not get accepted into pharm school last year because my application went out late. I applied early this year and I feel like I am still delayed ):

PharmCAS finalized my application on 9/22 and I received an interview invite within a week, though I had submitted the supplemental application to Mercer weeks prior to PharmCAS finalizing my GPA.

Had my interview on 10/2. Received email from Jordana on 10/6 informing me they want to see my Fall 2015 grades uploaded to PharmCAS in December before making an admission decision. Since I had been accepted at two other programs with deposit deadlines approaching, I provided her with a midterm progress update on 11/2 and notified of acceptance on 11/4.

Ive never heard of that before? .. has anyone else??
whats your stats?

Quick tip to those who are in the status of applying. PharmCas and other offices frequently lose stuff. It's definitely a good idea to keep persistently checking if your documents came in and are not just partially there. This includes paperwork, grades, immunizations, deposits etc. It is good to give a check up call if you send in papers, and they don't appear within a rational time frame.

Very laid back. Only 9 applicants, including myself.
1) Tour of campus led by a P1
2) One on one interview with a faculty member who has received your PharmCAS info but may/may not have read it b/c they want to get to know you more organically
3) One on one interview with a P3 student
4) Group interview with 3 applicants and a large group consisting of P1, P3 and admissions

Can I ask your stats? You don't have to if you don't feel comfortable, I was just curious since I will be also applying for Mercer.

Thanks! Did they ask any tough questions?

The questions are more "get to know you" closed-file sorts of questions... why do you want to be a pharmacist, why do you want to study here, have you ever been in a tough situation where you saw it to completion, etc. It's also a good opportunity to "interview" the school to see if it is somewhere you want to attend.

I applied to Mercer in early October and got an interview invite two days after my Pharmcas was verified. I interviewed and got my acceptance call a week later. I plan on accepting the offer. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Can I aske your stats? and also how was your interview? @Diem92
Sure!

Pharmcas overall GPA: 3.0
Pharmcas science GPA: 2.5
Non science gpa: 3.6
Extracurriculars ~400 hours
Recently graduated w/ bachelors

PCAT
Overall - 64th percentile
Biology - 84
Chemistry - 78
Math - 14 :uhno:

Even though my stats aren't all that stellar, I had a strong upward trend during my last two years (made dean's list every semester), and I think my LORs also sealed the deal. Oh and by the way, they really read your pharmcas essay, one of my interviewers even had it printed out and was referring to it during the interview.

Applying early definitely made a difference for me too.

I hope this helped 🙂

It did! Thank you so much 🙂

Hello guys,
I got an interview invitation in July, and got accepted to Mercer. If anyone needs any info, let me know 🙂

Hello, congrats 🙂

My interview is next week. How long after the interview do they let you know whether you have been accepted? Also, do they call/mail/email to let you know?

The reason I ask is I have to put a deposit in another school by the 18th. I wouldn't if I get into mercer and find out before then.

Jordana at Mercer said they have a pretty quick turnaround response about the decision.

Hello. The turn around time is usually within a week. They usually call you, and follow up with an email. See you Monday

I had my interview on Friday 10/30 and I was accepted the following Wednesday morning 11/4. Jordana, the director of admissions, called me to tell me I was accepted. Good luck in the interview!

Thank you so much, guys!! That really eases my mind.

How are most of you guys paying for pharmacy school? Student Loans? Thanks 🙂

I got the acceptance call today as well. Interviewed yesterday. I loved the program and the school.
Hey Trishna, I am so sorry to reply your message so late. I am busy with the finals at this time. But I realized that you already got accepted. Congrats!
I was one of the people Mercer called for the First interview in July. That was so scare because I did not grow up here, and did not go to high school here, and my name in the first group of people were interviewed.
Hope to see you at Mercer next year!

Thank you and not a problem at all 🙂 See you next fall!

I got an interview email yesterday from mercer!
Does anyone have any advice on how the interview generally goes?
Thanks!

The interview is generally 3 step: You are set up in a conference room along with other applicants, there you will receive a briefing about Mercer and what the pharmacy program entitles. Then (in different order for individual students) you are either A. Interviewing with a faculty member, B. Interviewing with a 2nd/3rd year student or C. being given a tour of the school along with a group discussion

Everything generally takes about 4 hours

Does anyone know if c/o 2020 has a facebook group? Haven't heard much from Jordana et al. since reserving my seat after acceptance.

I don't think one has been made just yet. It will be made later down the road.

Hi guys,

So for those of you that applied a little bit later, how long did it take for you to hear back from Mercer? I received an e-mail on 12/14 saying my application file was complete and under review.. but still haven't heard back. Also, did you guys complete the supplemental before receiving an interview? I called the admissions office and they told me not to worry about it unless I received an interview invite, but I'm just curious!

Thanks!

I got an interview invite within a week after my application was complete. But it was Nov. so yours can be different story. Just hang in there. As long as there is no bad news, it is still good.

Since you have already been accepted and currently attend Mercer, would you mind sharing when you received more info about actually starting pharmacy school? I was accepted in November and I received an acceptance letter and phone call, but I have not received any more information since then. Do they send you some sort of informational packet? Please let me know

I emailed Jordana about the immunization requirement and she said that they are making some changes and it will be sent to all accepted students on Feb.

There will be an invitation to join the Spring Picnic - where you will meet your classmates/teachers, and receive more information about starting school. Most of the information will be addressed in the summer, but you have to get started on your immunizations *ASAP* (some shots needed might take up to 6 months to complete!).
Also you should receive a log in into your email and mymercer.

Hi Jlcallisto, thank you but where can I find the information on immunizations? I have completed my drug and background screening so now I'm only waiting to get started on immunizations but don't know where to start. I only see immunization information for Mercer students in general on the website but not one specific to pharmacy students? I would really like to get started on this. Should I email Jordana about the immunization requirement forms? I did not get it in my acceptance letter envelope.

Has anyone who's PharmCAS verified over the holidays or in January received an interview invite? Also, does anyone know if the immunizations for UGA, Mercer, and South are similar? I feel like I should get started soon, but my first interview is in March so I haven't received any information regarding immunizations yet.

Like I posted above, I emailed Jordana about the immunization requirement and they are making some changes and it will be sent to all accepted students soon. So just hang in there and also I already started getting Hep B shots which is total of three shots and last about 6 month like Jlcallisto said. Other shots should be one shot or titer test. So if you are worried, I would start getting Hep B shots.

Thanks. I already have the three Hep B shots taken over a series of 6 months many years ago. But I want to know what else requires that much time.
