Hi,
Like it was said before, you have to go with which program suits you best. I attend Mercer, and I feel like I made the right decision. I wanted a school that lacked the cut-throat competition of Emory. I also knew that I hated lecture and learned very little from undergrad. With a curriculum like MCG's or Morehouse's (one that is lectured based), I have a tendency to memorize facts, do well on a test, and not remember a bit of it a year later. Thus, that type of program would have had me scrambing around Step 1 time... Mercer has an organ based PBL curriculum. I remember most of my pharm, biochemistry, phys, etc via organ systems and that is very helpful during board review and when exposed to clinical work. With Mercer, you get a LOT of hand-on standardized patient training, as well as plenty of community preceptorship practice. However, this is what made Mercer an ideal choice for me... not everyone.
I would examine how the schools compare in board preparation (Mercer has about a 98-100% PASS rate and usually does about 10 points better than the national average). Also, look at each curriculum and determine which you can learn the most from. Is it more important to live in a very large city or a smaller one? Also, Mercer doesn't have many minority students which is frustrating to many who attend, whereas Morehouse does. This might make a difference to you (it does some of my friends).
Regardless, good luck with your decision! Also, it doesn't hurt to call and let Morehouse know how interested you are in attending still.... Congrats on the acceptance! If you have any questions about Mercer, please feel free to contact me.
