I’m also just an interviewed applicant but I will say during my student panel I heard the same things about financial aid consistently being late from other current students. Everyone has different experiences though so thank you for sharing yours here!
I did not experience this at all. Its not as bad as OP said and then again everyone handles finances differently. I lived comfortably as a med student and never had issues with financial aid timeline.

anyone know how often does admissions meet to discuss applications? and possibly when next decisions go out?
I'd like to know the same! I haven't heard anything back since I interviewed Dec 11 and I remember they said they'd try to get back by Jan end - maybe they're simply just delayed for whatever reason?

geeeez I interviewed in Jan.. feeling like there’s really no telling when they’re gonna send out notices

Am trying to find out this information as well. I can’t really gage the pattern 100%, but it seems as though they release decisions on Fridays. Looking at this thread and cycletrack, it looks they last released post-ii decisions on Jan 10th. Since no news came out today (i’m assuming) I’m thinking the next wave will happen either Next Friday or the Friday after, if they do meet this month.

their next info session is on Feb 25 so I assume if nothing goes out this week, then you’re probably right about it being the week after this. It may be a good thing to join to see when they’re going to send out emails if they haven’t by then

Is there an accepted Morehouse admittance groupme or fb group/page? If there is, can someone post the link? If there isn’t, we should make one!

Would you mind sharing the link? I’m having trouble finding the it

did the information session start for anyone??

NVM, the info session was at 11 not at 2. Does anyone have any information on what happened in the info session?

Can anyone who has done the interview share their thoughts/what to expect? How did you prepare?
Know your application inside and out, especially if you did research. One of my interviewers only talked about my research and how it related to the work he does, research methods, etc.

Can you put when you guys interviewed? Haven’t heard back anything

any As from today or just WLs? I see the date I interviewed but haven’t gotten a decision today, what should I assume?

one reported A yesterday. no others today far as I know. I also saw my interview date of someone who received a WL… next info session is 3/11 2pm est per the website. I missed the last one thinking it started at 2pm but it was 11am

does anybody know the odds of getting accepted as a waitlisted OOS following interview?
Questions that need answers 😭

I found this: https://students-residents.aamc.org/system/files/2025-01/MSAR009 - MSAR Waitlist Procedures.pdf

According to this report, it looks like they WL ~250 and offer 100 spots from the WL. Speaking to current MSM students, it seems as though the majority of the class came from off the WL so it tracks.

Though I’m a bit disappointed about getting WL’ed since this is one of my top choices, I am trying to remain optimistic. It seems that a WL at MSM means your app is still being strongly considered and you’re a great fit for the program, but they are just taking more time to review all the apps. It’s not like a soft R like other places. If you make it on the WL, The odds seem pretty good.

Best of luck to everyone else on the WL! šŸ™šŸ¾

Edit: for OOS specifically, I think sending a LOI would go a long way in maximizing your odds since there is some IS bias. Showing commitment to the program and demonstrating some sort of passion for serving the ATL community I think is key.

anyone have or know of any interviews being this month? trying to gauge when things may be wrapping up

Important: Just for incoming students, our school will be switching from pass/fail back to graded next year for pre clinical years. So please do keep this in mind when applying. Admin will be kind of tight lipped about this as they understand it affects the decisions of recent admits but we’ve had a meeting and they pretty much broke the news to us last week it’s currently in the works for implementation next year.

Holy crap 😭. Thats not what I wanted to hear

The fact that they spoke about their preclinical years being P/F in the interview session & now they’re changing it… I’m pretty sure no one requested that so why?

Probably because a lot of students were failing P/F. Switching back to grading forces you to want to work for an A instead of a mere pass. While it’s more motivating it is also more stressful 😭

Unfortunately, Morehouse is not the best at communicating things honestly and will often find loopholes or ways to dodge telling the total truth. When I applied I asked specifically how many students pass step one. Their response was that 95 percent pass. When the question should’ve been directly, ā€œhow many students pass step one on the first attemptā€. The year that I applied, 30% of their students taking step one failed and our NBME scores have been down trending for years. The school is now fearful of being placed on probation by LCME and is trying to autocorrect before that happens. It makes me upset that they’re telling you it’s pass/fail during interview season when that’s one of the reasons many of us chose to come here over other schools we’ve gotten into.

There have also been a massive amounts of students who have had to decelerate and as a result in subsequent yesrd, there hadn’t been enough space and rotations become delayed which puts you at risk if you’re planning to apply to competitive specialties.

We have major issues here with most of our offices. Student accounting, financial aid and crediting offices. There’s been massive issues with students not receiving aid until well into October and the school often finds loopholes to explain their shortcomings. I just think it’s important to tell you all the truth. Don’t get me wrong, the community of students is amazing but yeah there are a lot of problems that need to be ironed out.

That’s exactly the reason. We had a sharp decrease in board scores. However, they don’t realize just the amount of stress that places on students. We aren’t appropriately prepared for boards and often take our shelf exams well before we’ve even covered the material but are told to just pass at the fifth percentile. We’re actually meant to have a large meeting today to try and protest.

Our classes next year will also likely be mandatory attendance and no active zoom links. I’m just trying to help everyone make an informed decision.

Fear of being placed on probation. Our average NBME scores over the past few years have been in the 50s-60s. Here’s the data they shared with us
