So after the interview I was like "thank you Dr. Daniel X"..........then i look at his business card and it says Mr.!!! Do you think he would be offended? I don't get offended when people think i'm a medical student lol

I doubt he will be offended since Dr is a higher title than Mr. However I do believe that by apologizing and saying "oh im sorry Mr-----" you are making him offended. It's kind of like calling a nurse a doctor. It's hard to explain but I believe it would be fine just to leave well enough alone.

I agree, don't correct yourself or apologize. Just pretend it didn't happen and go with the flow, especially since Dr. is a higher title that you mistook him for. Dr. is a pretty vague title anyway, encompassing phds, MDs, and even church ministers so its hard to get offended by it I thnk

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. Better to call a Mr. "Dr." than the other way around, and it's not like if your interview went great he'd say, "Did he just address me as Doctor? Nope, he's out."

During an interview I had with 2 interviewers one of them just introduced himself by his first and last name when picking me up from the waiting room. Then when I got into the room the other interviewer said "hi i'm doctor so and so." Anyway, the other guy looked really young so I assumed he was a student interviewer and I directed a question to him starting by saying "maybe you would know this better...but where do students live" etc.. At the end of the day we got the interviewers names/emails and he was a PhD in biochemistry. Oops.. I worried about it for a little but got in anyway.

I would be flattered to be called Dr.XXXX. I think you did good.
