anyone here ever tweak to get through those "all-nighters"? or should I say, several all-nighters. I'm thinking about getting on some kinda amphetamine to help me get through those tough exam weeks. I know quite a few med students tweak to get through study sessions that go on for days at a time. :meanie:

I hear crystal meth is great stuff to try. You may want to try to find some stuff called "Ice" but don't ask your pharmacist for it. Also, there are many great recipies out there for it that you can make yourself in a simple chemistry lab. When you try it for the first time, make sure you take all of it, not a little of it at a time. The last thing we need in the health profession is someone who was able to make it thru school by being irresponsible because they can't study the right way. If you need drugs to get a leg up, surely you cheat in your classes too

ya bunch a sissyheads try some crack!

Ok so what I've gathered from you in the last few days is that you have no interpersonal skills and you want drugs to help you study. I definately think that you should be a pharmacist based on those two attributes!! Good luck!

The fact that your post title mentions methamphetamines and not stimulants is disturbing. Caffeine okay, pseudoephedrine borderline, meth/cat/ice/ certainly not, but hey whatever it just isn't something I would do.

meth=schedule II controlled substance=felony possesion.
Definitely not a good idea.

In my state it is a schedule II. However, any schedule that it is, the addiction potential of the drug/ harmful effects are not worth the risk. Besides, wouldn't you want to earn your grade truthfully?

Just use caffiene like the rest of the world. Works for me!

😱

maybe you should stop taking stimulants and stop pulling several all nighters and.....maybe............your mild anxiety is going to go away..... :meanie:

Several of the members of my graduating class are now former pharmacists.
One is selling insurance, another is a substance abuse counseler. The president of my class was a third generation pharmacist. He did time for cocaine possession...

Putting a quarter in the till does not make it okay

that is one of the things I am most concerned about, that sooner or later (sooner rather than later) standing around pushing pills all day eventually leads to being miserable, which explains why the addiction rate is so high for new Pharmacists. And not just with rx drugs, but with hard street drugs like coke. All in order to maintain some level of sanity realizing that you just spent 6 years in Pharmacy school to stand around counting pills. 😴
I can totally see myself as a coke fiend throughout my entire career as a bipolar pharmacist.
hey, at least its something to work for...

since when did any of this have to do with morals?
There was a point in time when I remembered never having even considered doing drugs. Funny how things change in the course of a few years. At the private tech school I went to, I graduated on the Director's List (top 4 in the school), and was an honor student all throughout highschool. Never did I consider using drugs to help with studying, let alone doing drugs recreationally like I do now, not including the plethora of anti-depressants I'm prescribed.

But what difference does it make really how your pharmacist spends his $32/hr, as long as its behind closed doors. So what if he's a coke head or a pot head or a tweaker, or just the typical superficial, shallow Asian dude who gets more gratification from driving home in that bimmer than he will ever get out of being a Pharmacist.

Its all a question of how we all deal with this burden called life.

This is the second time you've referred to pharmacists as "pill pushers" in this forum. Either you haven't researched the field enough or you just haven't "gotten" it yet. There are a myriad of duties that pharmacists can hold. But I'll let you research that on your own.

Yeah, cocaine does wonders for manic depressive people. 👎 🙄 Here's a clue: illicit drugs are never the answer to any problem.

32/hr? Might want to look into switching jobs... My boss is at $47+/hr at a nice retail pharmacy site (+bonus, +sign-on, et al..).

Ever hear of a term called "Professionalism"? Pharmacists and pharmacy students deal with it every day and it comes down to one thing; doing the right thing

Life is not a burden, learn to live it and live it correctly

Only one that's shallow around here is you. Check your numbers as well. The last thing we need is an inpaired pharmacist giving our profession a black eye.

hey, at least its something to work for...

Substance abuse is an occupational hazard. As you might guess, the health
professions attract "addictive personalities" and as a result drug screening is
now a fact of life. I once knew of a physician with a fifteen minute fentanyl habit. Eventually, you will be caught. Then, after the state board
is done gutting your life you will be turned over to the court system.

The intense pace of pharmacy school is deliberate. They are teaching you to
handle stress while fatigued. They are teaching you to handle the pressure.
Some do it better than others. My partner just worked 17 straight days. Most of them were twelve hour shifts. He had 130 hours of overtime and was a walking zombie the last few days. He also did it while struggling with surging work loads on a new computer system The trick is to do this and not kill anyone. Your chances of consistantly producing a quality product while under the influence are compromised. This is why the state board, who is charged with protecting the public health, has an interest in your behavior

and yet we wonder why there are so many LAWSUITS out there because of a patient getting the wrong prescription!!!!!!!!!!! 👎 :meanie: 😡

I am sick right now... hypomanic. I was just diagnosed with bi-polar disorder a few weeks ago. I am gonna get help with my issues and until then am going to postpone any future plans

I am a advocate for the use of caffine, any thing stronger than that is simply taboo. I am not sure why you would want to start using meth. I am a volunteer at homeless shelters. Many of the people there are former meth users and it aint pretty. Everybody started using the stuff "just to get by" or "just for fun". Eventually that buzz becomes a crutch and they needed it all the time. I can tell you a hundred of stories of professionals that lost their jobs over that stuff.

I have never used drugs, my reason is that I would not want to put this much time in school just to get busted for having it. If you are having problems keeping up I would probably suggest changing you diet, exercising or do something really dramatic and just go to sleep.

From what Ive read in his post, this person is clearly SCREAMING for help. Hes drowning in something and can not stay afloat by himself for much longer. Id suggest to the original poster to get some serious help due to the repetitiveness of post like this. You are obviously having trouble resisting the call of narcotics. Talk to someone FAST before your hurt yourself physically, and financially.

Hang in there buddy. Some of my best friends in college were bipolar. Some of them would go off their medication during finals for the energy surge it would give them. Sometimes it would work and sometimes they would fall off the edge and end up in the hospital. Realize your limitations and respect them
They did it and so can you. Remember that you will never find the answer at
the bottom of a bottle or inside the lockup cabinet. It just isn't worth the cost when you are caught.
