mic check, mic check - ECs ok?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Your a sophomore. It's fall. Halloween is tomorrow.

Just keep it up, score well on the MCAT, and you are PERFECT.

Shadowing is the biggest thing I see.....

Non-clinical volunteering.....I volunteered in an animal shelter...

Keep up the volunteering and make sure you are getting actual patient contact at the hospital.

Lastly, since you want really competitive schools, I might would look for some unique opportunity like starting a project to feed the homeless, etc.

Except for the shadowing you plan, you have the usual and customary extracurriculars. I agree with J DUB, that for top schools you need to stand out in some way, be it publications, extraordinary leadership, high MCAT score, or wow-level community service. Keep up the good work with the GPA.

OK, Find something extraordinary...

Would starting a successful community service club be an "extraordinary EC"?

I don't know if I'ma be able to cure cancer lol

I would think so if it really did something productive.....

anything with kids looks good...doing it for the kiddies!! 😎

I never thought I'd become the typical snarky members of this forum, but it sounds like you're here to show off what you've done. I understand the exuberance you feel, and the fact that you need to share it with others. Clearly, you should be proud of your accomplishments.

Mine are similar, but I never felt it necessary to share them with anyone but those who love me enough to be really, really proud of me. I have all the "right stuff" for medical school, and in addition to working in the medical field, I've spent considerate time on medical missions here and abroad. While it helps my application, there are NO guarantees to success the first time around. Stop looking for validation from others, and just keep working hard and enjoying the experience of pursuing your dream.
