Michigan or Penn

Has anyone here not heard one way or the other from these two schools? I sent that card we had to fill out to Penn what seems like ages ago, and my application to Michigan has been on review since the 14th of December? Is anyone else in a similar situation with either Michigan or Penn? It would just make me feel better to know that I'm not alone.🙁 I'm still hoping for the best though

I think that a lot of people are in the same situation with Penn. They don't interview that many people (I think in the low 200's) and I don't know how many people they rejected pre-postcard. I'm also really hoping to be in that 7th group! I'm out of state and I selected other on the postcard (I added that I was interested in Zoo Vet Med and getting board certified in behavior), so here's to hoping that they are doing the "other" group last!

I checked "other", and on my interview date (1/26) there was a mix of all different concentrations, except LA. They said that the only time they actually call them in by interest is with LA/equine because they tour the New Bolton center and do their interviews there. There are actually 8 groups that they're interviewing, at 30 people per date = 240 interviews. I'm not sure what they're up to now...I think the 7th group should receive invites at the end of this week, like you said. Good luck to you, there are still 60 people that haven't heard so don't give up yet!

Good, TWO groups for Penn haven't heard anything yet instead of the one I thought it was. I am so nervous and I feel like I'm sailing alone in my little life raft of anticipation through a sea of people already interviewed (and accepted!). Here's hoping we hear something

I'm waiting for Penn to say something (anything) as well. I feel like the chances are really slim for me though, since there are only 2 more groups left.

You would think that if they weren't going to give us an invite, they would have told us by now!

I'm trying to guess which day of the week interview letters WOULD be sent out by seeing which day others posted about receiving their interviews, but it seems to really differ between groups!

I dont know if this helps, but my interview is the 2nd of February and I got my letter on the 13th of January. Good luck guys!

have people been rejected from penn if they didn't interview?? argh. every schools website needs to have a status page:

post cards mailed on xxx date
1st interview invites on xxx date
rejections xxx date

mailmen would probably be a lot happer if they did this too!

i emailed the admissions office at michigan last week for an update, and this was the reply i got:

"Your application still active. At this time, invitation for February
interviews will be sent the first or the second week of February."

so, there is still time! keeping my fingers crossed!🙂

So whose still waiting? I am! Waiting for both Penn and Michigan and feeling less and less hopefull every day

Has anyone heard anything past the 2/16 interviews being sent out. I think someone posted that they knew about those back on Jan 24th, but I haven't heard anything about interviews after that date. I'm assuming that there are going to be interviews on the 23rd and March 2nd, but thats just me guessing that they aren't skipping any weeks. I get sad every time I check my mail and I haven't heard anything yet 🙁

Does anyone know or have an idea of how many out-of staters they interview, how many applied, etc? That would be very helpful. 🙂

for penn, i heard that they have about 1500 applications (in/out states) this year, which is 50% more than last year's. and they only interview 240 people.

since penn is a 'half-private' school, they get quite a number of out-staters. but i am not sure what the exact number is. maybe up to 40% of the class?

There were about 250 PA applicants. About 51% of the class is typically in-state and 49% is out-of-state. So like 55-60 in-state and 50-55 out-of-state? The class size is 110.

Also, they said they were holding anywhere from 7-9 interview dates and that they were sending out invites weekly (they didn't mention skipping any weeks). SO I guess this means group 7 was sent out last week, and since they're still sending out invites, group 8 is this week. IF they do a group 9, that would be next week??

Anyone else have any other info?

They will skip at least 2 weeks... March 9th and 16th are spring break for us and since students are part of the admissions committee there most likely wont be interviews those days. And March 2nd is the Penn Annual conference, I dont know if that will affect things, too.

At my interview last week, we were told that they had been accepting 20-22 people from each group. Also, if that many were accepted from my group, they wouldn't be having any more interview weeks past what had already been sent out.

i've been thinking all along that i'd wish they'd slow down with the acceptances! there wont be room for me otherwise :/ lol, i'm sure the bright applicants they accept have plenty of other offers and some turn down the penn offer.

For those who have interviews to Michigan good luck!!! I had mine in early Dec and everyone was super nice I had a great time. I got an acceptance about 10 days later, so you won't have to wait long. 👍 👍 👍

I am still waiting on Michigan State also. My file has been in review since December... I started another thread before I found this one asking if they are having more interviews after February. I would just like to know one way or the other what I will be doing for the next year!!😕
