So, Congratulations all!! Who knows what the materials and book list will be, or when it will be available. Recommended supplimental books? Housing policy for first year DVMs. And anything else...? We didn't get a book list until we started school. But, we met with the administration this past week to recommend things that would make the vet school transition easier- one of the things was getting a book list out prior to the start of school. We use Guide to the Dissection of the Dog in first semester anatomy. Professors will refer to Dyce every now and then. I only have GDD because my big gave it to me and only have Dyce because my vet gave it to me. Wouldn't have bought them otherwise.
There are two coursepacks- One for anatomy, one for micro/viro/immuno. They are pretty much your books.
I have never even looked at the Histo book, and have done just fine without it.

There is not housing policy that I am aware of. I live 5 miles away from school and pay $325/month + electric, but I live with 3 other people. Next year, I am living alone and in a better location and will be paying $595/month.

In the next few weeks, you should get information about the Welcome Days- you will get to come to the CVM for a day and learn about what we have to offer and get a tour of the vet school, hospital, and DCPAH (giant path lab).

I'm waiting for my first choice before I send in my intent. I do really like Michigan State though and will probably be going there if I don't get into my first!

This is what I am hoping for too! My mom is retired and partially disabled so she might come with me. . .she offered her services as a live in maid/pet-sitter; can't pass that one up!

I'm brand new to this thread and this site, so sorry to jump into your conversation.

I know there are houses for rent in the Lansing area that have horse accomodation too. I recently saw something on Craig's list about this. Check the Greater Lansing area for help with this. If I see any more, I'll post them.
