For those who paid the secondary fee for Michigan, how long did it take to update the status online that application fee has been paid. With all other things, Michigan has been on par except a confirmation on the fees. It's been over a week.

For me,

7/6/07 MSU PAID $60
7/9/07 MSU secondary invite
7/22/07 MSU secondary submitted
8/6/07 MSU LOR submittal invite

Michigan or MSU?

For Michigan, I am:

Secondary Invite: 7/11/2007
LOR Invite: 7/23/2007
Dead Silence: To Date

Speaking of which, anybody know if they have given non-auto invites yet?

It doesn't appear so, but who knows?...I have been complete totally (including LOR) since 7/16 ("Ready for preliminary review")...with dead silence since then. But they may have, I just haven't gotten one yet. They're swamped though, so who knows what they are thinking.

/please please please pick me, Michigan.

LoL, I'm so sorry. I must be zoning out. I meant Michigan State. I have no idea for UMich.

What is the criteria for auto-invite from michigan?

Depends on four factors, all interplaying with one another:in-state vs. out of state, GPA, MCAT, and undergraduate institution. There are some other threads on here that quote something like 3.8 and a 38 for out of state, and a 3.6/36 IS. Also, the GPAs have to be from a school on their list. For instance, I know Michigan is on its own list, Yale, Notre Dame, and Stanford are on the list (along with a crop of others), but Michigan State isn't. So even if you have stellar scores, they need to be from some mysterious, unpublished list as well.

For University of Michigan, does out of state (not a school on their list by a long shot 😛) give me a chance for an interview? They did request my LOR, which I've sent. My application was complete last week.

Michigan was very fast with the status updates for me. I had my LOR's sent out on 8/14 and it was one of the first three schools to reflect receiving them.

I just got the interview roster for 9/14 interviewees last week and while most of the students are from Berkeley, Yale, Stanford, UMich, etc. there were a couple of "lesser known" schools that leads me to believe that just a few non-auto invites have gone out.

For University of Michigan, does a 33/3.8 out of state (not a school on their list by a long shot 😛) give me a chance for an interview? They did request my LOR, which I've sent. My application was complete last week.

Usually, if they request your LOR, you're in good shape. U of M has an incredibly diverse class, and sometimes, numbers don't matter. They like what else is on your application. For instance, I had a good friend who I met while doing research who went to a tiny school in Tennessee with a 3.6 and a 32, didn't do too many EC's, but was an interpreter in a free clinic since she was in high school (unique). There are people who have literally joined the circus, with really low numbers, who get in. Then, there are the people who have a 4.0 and a 42 from U of M, who don't get in. Never give up hope at U of M.

for the most part, the UMich status site is only useful for finding out if you got an interview or not... and even then, they'll email you that fact.

I will never forget this. Ever. I have never been as disappointed in my Wolverines as I was on Saturday. Until Sunday. And then Monday came...today wasn't much better, either.

/went to my first game when I was two-weeks-old.
//I probably felt like crying more on Saturday than I did at my first game.
///At least we have academics, right? RIGHT?

No, App state is now a top ten med school and michigan isn't even ranked anymore.

Yeah, I know they don't have a medical school.

Thanks for the encouragement 🙂
