Has anyone had any experience with fulfilling the "general" Bio II lab requirement with microbiology lab? Any med schools not accept that?

Truth is, I'd argue there technically is no such thing as "general" bio II lab. For bio I it can be basic cell bio, the principles of which apply to all living things. If you took a course with a name like "general biology II lab", how "general" was it really?

Why would a lab from one class satisfy the lab requirement for different class?

I would hope so because my school has no lower division Bio Labs and all the upper division labs are stand alone and stuff like micro or biochem or molecular bio labs.

I was exempt from the full year of general bio labs. I took micro lab just so I could argue that I had 'upper division' bio lab experience, but I didn't take it until my last semester. No one seemed to have issue with it before that.

I've taken microbiology with a lab. It doesn't allow you to skip any pre-req classes.

My understanding is that medical schools don't require Bio I + Bio II with lab, most of them actually require a year of biology with two labs. Bio 2 (the zoology one) is a waste of time for premeds, IMHO. I took Molecular and Evo. Genetics instead.

I graduated with a micro degree- including 5 upper division labs- and never took the "Bio 101" lab. I never had any problems. Almost all my secondaries said "year of biology+ lab," and the one school I specifically inquired at (UCSF) said that my upper division labs fulfilled that requirement. Call the schools individually if you're that concerned.
