Can you verify if the email came from Glendale or Downer's Grove?

Thanks.

Yes. It was sent from the admissions office at Downers Grove.

Random question, I just was offered an interview and I am trying to get my travel plans together... If I arrive the night before and catch a shuttle from the hotel to campus, will I have a place to put my luggage during the visit???

Yes.

hey cinnamon you're going to hawaii interivew on the 5th too? I'll be in vegas for that interview also. Except that I had to schedule touro on the same day.. so I don't know if I'll be making it out to vegas after all. If I do, see you there!

Yeah! What time are your interviews in Vegas and Touro? Mine is around 11:30am.

I'm from the Chicago area, and have not received a letter.

You know what I'm thinking? Probably they sent out the letters bounded for out-of-states on day 1 and decided to wait out on the letters for the Chicago-area on day 3, so all of us can open the letters at the same time!

I have an idea. Instead of making everyone wait, there is another option.

At the end of the interview day, the admission committee should take a few hours to make a decision. Then after that, they should call of the students in, at around 8:00 P.M.

And then the admissions committee divides the room into three groups: the rejections, the wait-lists, and the acceptances. The faculty visits each of these rooms and tells everyone the news on the same day!! How about that? Just like American Idol!

Or about like the international piano competitions? They should have the committee come out (make a long speech about how difficult the decision is!), and then announce the rejections first, the waitlists next, and the remaining people not announced are the ones that are accepted!! And everyone sits in a large auditorium as they do this!! A lot of people, of course, are crushed after the announcement (and I have been crushed too several times!), but that is the way it is, I guess.

funny, but i just found out i got in through the MWU portal.

I just got accepted through my portal also!

Congrats! My online status hasn't changed, so I guess I will find out my status in the letter.

Antimony, will you be accepting Midwestern's offer?

I just got my acceptance through portal as well

My status hasn't changed, so should I be expecting the worst?

What a bummer. I really wanted to go to CCP too.

I just found out this morning by clicking on the matriculation/payment area in my portal.

Well, I think those who aren't acccepted don't have their application status changed. So those who haven't heard are either waitlisted or rejected, based on previous years' posts. But I can definitely understand the decision of the committee.

I believe Antimony is the head of the pre-pharmacy society at UCF. So that should be enough to guarantee someone a spot. Infinite knowledge of the profession. I believe that he should get into any pharmacy school he applies to. I am a graduate of UCF, and even though the school is not that well known outside of Florida, they have a very good science program.

And two of the other people who got in are graduates from UCLA and UC-Berkeley. Two very prestigious schools that DEFINITELY have science programs on par with Harvard and Princeton. So as you can see, the REPUTATION of the university in some pharmacy schools, matters as much as if you were applying to MBA at Wharton or Kellogg or UChicago. And even if you have a mediocre GPA from those schools. It shows that you are the best just by attending a prestigious school. A 2.8 from UC-Berkeley = 4.0 somewhere else for sure.

I didn't think that a private pharmacy school that wasn't UCSF or UCSD or Michigan would be thinking in this mentality. So this thinking actually surprises me. Midwestern is a very good school, but still does not have the academic/research reputation of a Michigan, UCSF, UCSD, UNC, SUNY-Buffalo, Texas-Austin, etc. But in China for example, if you do not graduate from a top five school (Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong, Fudan University, Nankai University, or Tsinghua) you can really be out of luck when you search for a job there, due to the intense competition over there.

But I can understand the trend of thought.

I am very sorry if I am a little too blunt, but this is just my opinion.

For the others, if you did not apply to enough schools (for example only 2 or 3), go onto PharmCAS right now, and add some additional places. I am sure all of you deserve to be pharmacists, and persistence will eventually pay off.
I know the process can be very frustrating, especially when you think you did all you could, and you do not get the result you were expecting. No one should give up hope!!

Good luck to everyone!!

Mine has not changed either. 🙁 But congrats to those who got accepted! :hardy:

I got accepted too! But most likely I will be declining this seat, since I got accepted into Midwestern-Glendale. I hope one of you gets it!! Good luck!!:luck::luck:

Who was accepted from Illinois?

If your status didn't change, then most likely you have been waitlisted or rejected. The online portal will notify you first before letters are sent.

Are you sure? I emailed the admissions office a few days ago, and they said they had sent out letters in the past couple of days.

yeah im pretty sure...the letters they sent out are acceptance, rejection, and waitlist letters. They'll usually notify you first online. But I mean anything can happen that's just how it was for us last year.

I think what he meant is that you're going to hear something from portal first if you do get accepted before receiving the letter. It seems like none of us have received a letter yet. I'm still waiting for the mailman to come right now.

It's a long shot...but I wonder if they are slowly putting up the acceptances over the portal.

The reason that comes to mind is because over in the glendale thread, it seems that some people are finding out a few days apart from each other.

I have yet to see a status change, but congratulations to those who have received an acceptance.

Hopefully this year, many more of us will be able to experience that moment. :luck:

That's what I am hoping for! But, we won't be able to find out if this is the case until Monday at the earliest, since it will be down all weekend beginning this evening.

I had just received my letter in the mail! Well, they placed me on the alternate list. They said they do not rank the list and if my status changes at any point in time they will contact me as quickly as possible.

No letter for me yet. I guess that means it will come in the mail tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that. I think i will be in the same situation even though I have not checked mail yet.

don't worry about being on the alternate list...they pull a lot off the alternate list. I think they start pulling in January all the way till August.

I wonder how do they determine who actually gets rejected? I guess a person has to really bomb the interview or if the interview was mediocre but the stats were not that great... Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone who receives the rejection letter. My stats aren't great either and interview is not really my strength.

My chemistry professor/dean had just sent in the letter of rec to PharmCAS last week, so I'm guessing that the reference will be sent to the schools sometimes soon. If Midwestern receives the letter, I do hope the adcom would give it a consideration because I know it's a strong letter. On the letter they did encourage us to send in update information such as PCAT scores, grades from recent coursework, new addresses and phone numbers, etc.

also a word of advice for those on the alternate list....send in a LETTER OF INTENT as soon as possible to show that you are interested in coming here and get extra letters of recs from other professors and have them send it in directly to the Midwestern campus and they'll keep the letter of intent and extra LORs on file with your application so when they review your application again they'll see the extra stuff giving you a better chance!

I live in IL and I just received the letter saying I was placed on an alternate list. I was in the first group that Midwestern CCP interviewed with. So a letter of intent...how long should I make it. I have 4 strong LORs already. I guess retaking the PCAT would be advisable if I still can.

I called the admission today, and the peron i talked with, said that the letters have not been sent yet. So I guess they sent out waitlist letters this week, not the acceptances. If you receive one, that can be a waitlist letter.

Why have I not received a letter when I live in Chicago? My Interact account hasn't changed either. I feel like they just forgot about me... =/

Possibly, because Interact is not a main way to notify students on thier statuses. I guess, they do change interact, but not everyone can have the change since there are many students, and there are many letters need to be done. I talked to the lady today, and it seemed to me like they are still doing it, and going to send out the acceptance letters. I hope it will be next monday.

Thanks. But I interviewed on Oct 1st, so I would assume they would have my results by now. I hope you're right though, because I would be BEYOND depressed if I didn't get in. It's aggravating, because I live so close by. It also doesn't help that I'm experiencing this same mystery with Mercer right now too...

I just suck. I really appreciate you giving Midwestern a call though, because I'm too scared to do it myself. 😛

What should be included in the letter of intent?

😕Hey are all you guys who've have their status change from the Oct. 1st interview???

At least a couple are from the Oct 15 interview.

Oh I just got the letter- I'm on the alternate list. I was at the Oct. 15 interview and I live in the Chicago area.

No letter for me yet. I guess that means it will come in the mail tomorrow.

Hang in there! Sigh...this means that we will have to do some more waiting for at least a couple of months! So, I'm guessing you will be heading to Vegas this December after all?

Viva Las Vegas! I'll be there. I'll also mail off my application to UMKC now. I've been sitting on it so that I didn't pay their application fee and not need to. They are very last on my list of schools because of their 5 year program.

Well, anyone know how likely it is to be pulled off the alternate list? Or should I just assume that I'm not getting in?
