Hi,

did anyone get an email for this? do you guys know if the class is pretty much full? i was reading the interviews and saw some person say that the he got invivted for the mandatory visit without knowing that the class was already full so he basically wasted his money going. So if you guys know then that'll be great! oh and have they been giving out lots of interviews already? okay then thanks!

I doubt the class is already full. People get accepted there all the time and then decide to go to other schools, thus opening seats up for others. The visit is pretty laid back. Everyone is friendly and they usually feed you. Not much to see in Downer's Grove. The campus kind of gave me the creeps. It felt like a community college in the former communist East Germany. It is too bad that the campus doesn't live up to the Chicago image. It is also difficult to communte from Chicago because there is no public transportation to the school. I had to pass the opportunity to go there unfortunately.

IMO: A Chicago suburb can never live up to the Chicago's image because it's just that, a suburb.

I'm not sure to which e-mail you are referring. The class is nowhere near full though. They've only had two mandatory campus visits (one in October and one in November), and they usually have them periodically until April.

Hi there FutureRxGal! Since you attended an MCV for CCP, do u mind me asking how ur stats are, as far as PCAT and GPA are concerned, just to get an idea of what kinda stats they consider. Also, by any chance, do u know ~how many people usually attend an MCV? By periodically, do u mean that the MCV's are held once every month? How was ur MCV..stressful/one-on-one type interview, or pretty much laid back, with, according to what I've heard, an essay? Sorry for all the questions!! 🙂

You can check the interview feedback section for most of these answers. I posted my experience on there, and so did a few other people. Also, if you have an InteractNow ID# from MWU, you have access to their forums as well. Those forums will give you a better idea of what to expect.

I'm not sure if the same amount of people attend each MCV, but there were ~30 at mine. Hope this helps.

O'Hare is the closest airport to Midwestern.

I flew into Midway because it was the cheapest option for me at the time of my ticket purchase. The airlines I used were Delta on the way up and AirTran on the way back (through www.expedia.com). I rented a car to get around.

Hey do you guys know if this mandatory visit means that they selected you as a potential candidate to get into the school or is it something that they give to everyone that completes the applicant early?

Is it very selective or do they just offer it to anybody that satisfies the basic gpa requirements and applies early?

It's a selective process; not everyone with the qualifying GPA gets invited. They only invite 400-500 applicants for the visits, but they received well over 1000 applications last year. Of the ones invited to the MCVs, ~200 matriculate the following fall.

I'm not sure where, but somewhere on one of the topics in this forum i read that the admissions committee is already pretty much set on their decision to accept or reject a candidate even before the "interview" or "campus visit" occurs....is there any truth to this? and Does anyone know how long after the candidate visit does Midwestern CCP mail out their decision letter?

Oh yeah, for anyone that has attended one of these mandatory visits what exactly do they mean by proper "business casual" attire? Would a pair of nice pants and a long sleeve shirt do? (or should a tie be worn as well??)

thanks

Not true. The admissions committee takes into account your essay that you complete at the MCV.

Well, I'm female (obviously 😉), and I wore nice slacks and a nice button-up shirt with a bright pink sweater over it. The women had basically the same attire, although some did wear business suits. The men varied from a causal T-shirt with khakis to a tie with a button-up shirt and slacks.

Hi, current 4th year here. One of the faculty on the admissions committee told me that they use the "mandatory visit" to see how serious these candidates are about attending our school. They get so many applicants they use it as a filter of sorts. If they don't want to take the time to come out here, they view it as general disinterest in our program.
