Midwestern, Glendale 2012 class

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yup, that's CRY CRY ~~~ Didn't know you a Kpopper also aha. If I fail pharm school, I will audition and become a trainee instead :meanie:

I came to the states in 2005 so M.Worcester want all applicants whose english isn't their 1st language must take the toefl. I registered like 3 days before the test date (late fee added T_T )

That would be awesome! Yah, I have a soft spot for Kpop. I actually went to the same high school as Khun from 2pm! My best friend's close friends with him but I was always too shy. +pity+

I hope you get accepted to MWU! I bet you have a awesome playlist! :meanie:

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG .Khun is my 2nd bias in 2PM ~~~ No.1 is Junsu
I had dates with Khun's cousin (sadly with many other friends too not just 2 of us haha) a few times lol
anyway. so you're 1988-er? I'm 1990-er.
My 1st choice is Sullivan though. But it will be nice to have a kpop classmate aha

To all those accepted,

Besides the checklist on the portal, what else do we have to do? The matriculation form says we have to provide health insurance and immunization forms. Do they send out something in addition to the checklist to ask for those?

If you go to student services tab on the top center, you will see the immunization forms that you can download and mail records to the school.

All students get health insurance included in the tuition unless you opt to be waived out of it I think. So if you rather use your own health insurance, you will just show proof.

EDITED: double checked, you have up to 2 weeks into the school to get a titer that will check your immunizations. Hope this helps

1989. 🙂 He was a year older and super cute! Was Khun's cousin cute too? haha

Good luck with Sullivan!

I don't even know where to begin looking for my immunization records. Anyone else have this problem? 😕

My interview is Monday morning, but yeah, I plan on giving myself lots of time to get there since I'm always paranoid about being late. Thanks for the tips. ^_^

Last minute advice if you read this before going. Try to relax. They are super nice, want you to be comfortable, and not trying to scare you. I was very pleasantly surprised.

you never had immunization records? if you go to any school in the US you must have immunized. Ask your parents?

Plus, you can do the titer to find out what you currently have in your system

Heh thanks. Yeah, I'm not really nervous right now, but it'll probably hit me tomorrow morning once I actually get to the interview. Then again if I don't get enough sleep, I may just end up hyper instead. That was what happened my first interview which worked out better than expected XD

not really. in his family, only he has the perfect look. his bro Nich Chan isn't that cute. Chan has more of a Thai look. Khun = mixture of perfect Chinese + perfect Thai = our Korean charming ahah

anyways, it has been almost 3 weeks since my interview. We should all know by this week. If I get in, i'm coming to Korea this summer ohlala

anyways, back to MWU...They still haven't sent me any news after the "on hold for potential interview" 😡

anybody who was accepted receive the packet to do's that Midwestern was supposed to mail out yet? what else is in there besides immunizations and proof of insurance that we need do?

There is no packet.
I am guessing the only big packet you will receive is the housing information sometime in December?

I don't think graduate schools send you big packets since UOP sent a super thin packet with a congrats letter and bunch of brochures lol.

His brother is currently in Thailand doing some modeling work, right? I actually don't remember what he looks like anymore!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Pharm school and Korea are both pretty awesome so at least you have a exciting back up plan! Given your stats though, I'm sure you'll get into pharm school. 👍

I'm trying to figure out who PCCweakO is. I knew they were scheduled to interview on 11/11 so I'll assume they were in attendance, yet I have no idea who it was.

Care to step forward?

Hey, I was Kevin G. Phx, group 1 panel A. Brown suit might help me stand out in your mind; I see that 2 of your have posted that you were accepted congratulations.I guess I didn't do so hot on the interview haven't heard anything yet or seen any change to my portal. All well i'll keep checking. 🙁

So happy my interview is done!!! I have to say it was much more relaxed than I expected. You all were right on the money. Now to *patiently* wait for them to decide my future..... :scared:

I hope you get in! I also hope we hear back from UOA soon. 😉

Omgggg just got home. Soooo tired. @_@ The interview was really not that bad except for one of the ladies asking the same question twice and some situational questions x_x. But apparently one of the current students there that I talked to said that as long as you don't blow your interview or raise any reg flags (ie. not completely different from what your application says you are, and not in it for the money) then you shouldn't really worry..

It's really not bad at all. During my interview, a fellow applicant didn't finish her response and came back to it and still got accepted. It's all about how you carry yourself.

Glad you got home safely!

Thanks!!! Me too. We were told the admissions folk meet on fridays so hopefully I'll have some good news then 🙂

I believe UofA won't start reviewing applications until December 1st, so we still have a couple weeks to wait 👎 Patience has not been my friend lately.

Congrats to all the new acceptances!

I also got accepted to UNC so now I have till Friday to decide whether I will be going there or to MWU since my deposit for MWU will be due. I like both schools so it is difficult to choose. AZ is much closer to CA than NC is, but I've been living in CA all my life so I do think it would be fun to experience something really different. Also, UNC is a more clinically based program which is more in line with what I want to do. I'm going to have to make a list of pros and cons.

Hi everyone!

I just recently have been thinking about applying to Midwestern, but after looking at the amount of posts in this thread, I'm beginning to wonder if there will be any seats left in the class! If there are 20 pages worth of people applying/who have applied, then I'm not sure if there's still a chance! 😕

Anyone know if Midwestern will be having many more interviews? Also, I heard that to get an interview, you will need at least a 3.2. I think by the time I apply I'll have a 3.0 so also not sure if this is good enough. I have a 90 in my PCAT though so hopefully this can outshine my less than stellar GPA. Thanks for any input!

Lololol, actually I think the majority of posts in this thread are from the same group of people so I'm sure if you try applying you will still have a chance~ ^_^ I was actually under that same impression initially too when I saw the massive amount of pages this thread had racked up.. But I still managed to get an interview despite my application not being completed until recently due to waiting for my September PCAT scores..

I'm not exactly sure how many more interviews Midwestern will have so I can't help you there. As for your GPA, I'm not sure what the cutoff would be for them to give you an interview, but when I went in for my interview they said that they're more interested in well-rounded applicants, rather than just "great scientists" cuz they realized that they need people who are good communicators also so I'm sure your PCAT score can balance out your GPA. Hope I helped 🙂

So, I've been trying to figure out it out: it seems like you get notification immediately after the interview if your a "slam dunk" candidate or they don't let you know for about a week. Anyone have any responses a couple days after their interview?

We were told at our interview yesterday that the adcom meets on fridays. This means if you interviewed friday, you would likely get a response that afternoon. Otherwise, you will need to wait until next friday.

In the past, they accepted some guy with a 2.5 GPA but a 95% PCAT. 🙂 If I were you, I would apply just to give it my best shot. 3.0 isn't too bad!

There's 20 pages worth of people applying/who have applied because we talk too much. lol

Haha, yah I know. It's one of the downsides of applying to a non-rolling school. >_< Hopefully once it's December, they'll get back to us quickly. I'm sure they have very few applicants compared to pharmCAS pharmacy schools!

Well I can definitely say that there's not a 3.2 GPA required for an interview. Mine's WAY below that...

I interviewed on a Friday in Oct and found out the following Tues. So it doesn't necessarily take a week. They probably review people in batches.

I think they interview by their minimum requirement of 2.5 GPA and 70% PCAT give or take, can be totally wrong.

Apply anyways because if you don't apply, you'll never have a chance to show them how awesome you are.

WOW thanks for all the advice guys! I definitely will apply, so thanks for that little push! I guess I was a little concerned because I heard in the past that Midwestern was a "strictly GPA" school, but am glad to know they look for well rounded applicants!

Also glad to know that this thread is just full of lots of chatty people! 🙂

Did you all decide you were going to Midwestern?

I'm most likely going to go to Midwestern but I would like to hear back from UOA and UOP first. 🙂

dont listen to hackerpanda, shes not even considering midwestern.

my goodness my activity has gone down tremendously after october, making up for missed month of work succckkksssss

Lololol, I still have 3 more interviews lined up for the rest of the year so I gotta see how those go.. but Midwestern is about 4th on my list and I still have to wait for them to get back to me since I just had my interview.

Hello all! I have been a browser of the pre-pharm forums for a few days now and just finally signed up.

I will be having my interview this coming Friday, so I look forward to meeting some of you and hopefully becoming classmates with others.

I am really liking all this activity, it seems promising for a great experience!

Midwestern's initial screening for applicants is a minimum of 50 percentile for the PCAT and GPA is I think 2.5. Any app below that won't pass through the computer screening.

I interviewed on a Friday, the next group on Monday. The slam dunks were admitted on Tuesday, and I was admitted Wednesday. So I think it is kind of all over the board. Remember to check your portal, I never got a call at all.

If I don't get to pharm school, my mom wont let me go to Korea 🙁( I already have my lists to buy from there

Do you guys know when will be the next interview dates at MWU? Pharmcas sent out my updated profile 2 weeks ago to MWU 🙁(

I heard in the past that Midwestern was a "strictly GPA" school

A few people already mentioned this but they seem to be pretty good at looking at the overall applicant.
My GPA was just under 3.0 and my PCAT was only 65 and I was accepted without being waitlisted. I guess I made up for my low stats with my pharmacy experience and starting my own pre-pharmacy club (which now has 135 members 😀). I guess it also didn't hurt my chances when one of my fellow interviewees admitted to cussing at a patient.

Thank you for the info 🙂 And major props to you for your pre-pharm club! I was actually in a pharmacy fraternity so hopefully my extracurriculars will assist me :xf:

Also, I still don't really get those people who are THAT honest at interviews. Some things are better left unsaid...

All definitely good options! Good luck with those!!

You should convince her otherwise! Are you 100% committed to Midwestern?? And I'm guessing you guys know each other already...

Hey Kevin.

You interviewed with my group (Michael and Jared). I thought Dr. Mindy made all the difference in the world. She rocked!

Congrats to all the new acceptances!

Isn't UNC the number 2 rated school in the country?

From what I understand, MWU will interview anyone with a 3.2 or better, and 70 PCAT composite with no individual section below 50.

What are your top choices so far??

Uhhh, my number #1 unreasonable choice is UCSF lololol. But I highly doubt I will get in XD, let alone an interview.

As for my other options, I have pending interviews with Pacific Uni in Oregon and LECOM- Erie, as they're also 3 year schools, but less expensive than Midwestern. Then there's Albany College of Pharmacy in Colchester that I also have an interview with coming up in December.. but I'm more likely to go to a 3 year school if I get into one. I'm still trying to decide between the 3 year schools though because of distance vs tuition @_@

Man no internet sucks! Cable company screwed up my TV AND internet..arg

Anyways, I think all these discussion about who gets interview and who dont based on statistics is a little skewed. I personally have a really bad PCAT and my GPA is not so significant. I think it's more about whether you hit the minimum and your overall application that present you as who you are as a future PharmD.

For those that are deciding between schools, I got into MCPHS-Worcestor, Albany, and Touro CA. But I'm still going to Midwestern. I think the ranking is not based on academic achievement and NAPLEX percentage at all and is more towards peer academic review and endorsement/publications. Albany College of Pharmacy is ranked 50 something and Midwestern is 70 something, but I don't want to go to Albany because theres literally nothing there and it's on the east cost. My brother lives there and unless he offers to pay for my full tuition I am not going to respond to the deposit deadline. 👍

We all know each other a little bit now since some of us are chatter boxes (me) and been through this thread from page 1 lol. It just seems like a great group of individuals to go through 3 years of grueling hell together. 😀
