Midwestern interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations Hello 18! I believe we interviewed on the same day.
I found out today that I got accepted too....! I can't believe it... I thought I did horrible!! (well, not horrible, but not as well as I'd liked to.) I'm excited, of course, but this is very unexpected. I liked CPG but the only problem is that the school's so expensive... and I don't think I'll be able to get financial aids since I'm an international student. All this money talk is stressing me out! What do other people think about the tuition and other expenses ($50,000!!), compared to general 4-yr school? Again, Congratulations to all who got accepted!!

Congrats Freezedry... I wonder if I talked to you that day... I was in the last interview group 3, i think group B (hint: initials JT) ... Anyways... in the 3 year school you'll be able to make up your debt in a heartbeat... and you graduate a year earlier than everyone else... Also I believe Midwestern's education is top notch...

tuition is a huge investment in yourself. 50,000 x 3 years is about 1 1/2- 2 years salary as a pharmacist. and depending on how old you are, you have 30-40 years of working at a great salary. plus, if its what you really want to do, then it will all be worth it. the debt you accrue will give you inspiration to do really well in school! thats what im telling myself, once i get in somewhere...

I think I know who you are Hello 18 😉. I'll have to consider a lot of things before I finally decide, including the cost. But I do agree with people here that it's an investment, it's just that getting a loan itself would be hard for me being non-resident and whatnot... I'll have to talk to the financial aids people about that. If nothing else, I have trusty SDN counsellors to talk to😛 Thank you all for your thoughts!

what country r u from? I'm Canadian so i'll be borrowing money from the Canadian banks... it's impossible for me to get money from the US banks unless I have an American cosigner... which i don't.

But ya look into your home country and see if there's any student loan, lines of credits etc... it's probably easier that way.

Hmmm I never thought about getting loan from my country... (I'm from Korea) I wonder if that's possible at all. Right now I have tons of finals to go through so I won't be able to think about it for two weeks, but I'll definitely look into it. Thanks Michelle!!!

hey guys....does midwestern e-mail or mail you the supplemental application??? and how long does it usually take?

They e-mail you after your pharmcas app is complete to let you know that you have met there qualifications for the supplemental . Took less than a week for me, and about two days later for the invite (CCP that is).

wow...i didnt know that they really looked at individual scores and waitlisted off of 1 category... I am kinda worried now because I also got a composite 88% on the oct. pcat, but got a 42% in math....... i wonder if they have a minimum score for each category that you have to meet to be accepted 😕

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they told me that if you were lower than 50 in any area, that should be an area of concern...

Just rock your interview!

So, I know Midwestern has my completed application.
It has been almost two weeks and the admissions lady said that they send the interview invite via e-mail.
Is that true? i am just getting really antsy. Also, does anyone know generally how long the turnover time is for an interview invite?

Finally, does anyone know if there are even scheduled interview dates for CPG for the month of December, because so far it seems like all the Dec. interviews are over at CCP.

Thanks everyone🙂
and congratulations to those of you who have recently been accepted!

Sun Devil 09----Here is the timeframe for me getting an interview invite...

Got a reminder email to remind me to schedule an interview a little under 2 weeks after they received my supplimental app (hand delevered since I am in the area)

Got the actual interview invite a day later.

Got a letter telling me that they needed my supplimental app about a week later.

So it was all a little out of order but it worked out.

I got my CPG interview invite email last week and the earliest they offered me was Jan 3rd, which I took. When I asked about December dates they advised they didn't have any "available."

Anyone interviewing at CPG in December?

Would you mind telling me what day they received you Supp. App?

Would you mind telling me what day they received you Supp. App?

Don't remember exactly, but it was mid-November, and I turned right back around and mailed it out the next day.

Has anyone received interviews lately? Just curious if anymore invites have gone out! I am waiting patiently!! 😀

nope 2011, 3 year program, starts June 2008

oh, forgot about that. I thought in order to be considered for AGO you needed to complete your first year and be at the top of the class. Midwestern CCP did away with the AGO option this year.....rats!

dammit. I jsut sent in my supplemental today. How long do you think it'll take them to get back at me for an interview?

depends on where you mailed it from...

but, once they receive it their turnaround time to email you for an interview is 2-3 weeks.

they receive your supp app and then the review committee meets once a week to review all supp apps and decide who they'll invite for interviews. emails with interview invitations are then sent out the next week.

something along those lines.

NOTE: They are expecting the vast majority of their supp apps in december/january which means turnaround time could be longer during that time period.

Sending from So. Cal. On the website they said they will have 75% of their spots taken up already by Jan 1st? Is this true?

75% of their interview spots set up by Jan 1st? Probably.

But they've experienced a slow start for applications this year (I think the new start date and additional prereqs has affected their normal pool of early applicants). So I seriously doubt that 75% of their 2008 class slots will be filled by Jan 1st. (That part of their website has remained unchanged for the last couple of years).

Have faith! Negative thoughts will only hurt your efforts. 👍

can any 1 tell me about the transportation in downers grove?
should I rent a car?
I have an interview in Jan, any suggestion about where should I stay?

Hey,

I am a PS-I at CCP. When I came for my campus visit I stayed at a nearby hotel (Embassy Suites), but nearly all of them have shuttles and will drive you to campus that morning. I wouldn't rent a car if you are just coming in town for the campus visit then flying out. You can take a Taxi or Airport Shuttle to the hotel; they are reasonably priced.

hehe DITTO for me too. 😀 I spent all that time & effort (and money!) into my other applications so I might as well ride it out and see what happens.

i'm going on the 24th...i'll see u there 😀😉

i decided to take my chance with the pcat and study off of previous sdner's post pcat questions; and i got an interview next year for western, i hated the snobby student here and not sure if i am the only minority at this school, but pharmacy is pharmacy, i also got an interview in other boony states, 4 years program. -L :luck: i just can seems to compete with the all the kali ppl hmm....my second try and apply to 30 schools.........

I am sooo pumped (and a little bit nervous!) for my January 3rd interview!!

Any last shreds of advice as I finish final preparation for it this week?😕

Anyone interviewing at CPG in December?

I am sure it is too late but the academic advisor I am in contact with over there said the Pharm program was not being focused on for the month of Dec. and that interviews for the DO and other programs were being focused on instead.

she said the earliest interview was Jan 3rd (granted this was in Nov) so to wait until then.

Regardless, I will see you this Thursday! How are you feeling?

that is not true. i got in with an area lower than 50.

i suckkkkkk i have an interview on the 3rd and i haven't even booked a hotel yet! let alone a plane ticket (although i'm about 4 hours away from CPG...i'm probably just going to drive)

How long does Pharmcas take to submit app to Midwestern? I am so scared that I wont meet the Feb 15 deadline. I just e-submitted my app about an hour ago. They havent received my updated transcripts yet... I hope I get the supplemental in time AHHH
