Minimum score for specializing (NBDE 1 new format)?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What do you guys think the new format NBDE cut off score will be for specializing, and what was the old format cut off score?
With the old format, a 90+ would make you look competitive for OMS, Ortho, and Endo. A mid-80 and above is what Pedo and other specialties seriously consider from applicants.

I think the new format doesn't change the game much, especially with the intensity of the competition (which is the deriving force on any format of the exam). A certain percentage of examinees will always score in the 90's, so ultimately they are the ones who will eventually dictate what specialties consider as the cut-off points on part 1.

I am not quite sure about this 90+ score as the cut off anymore because the ADA states that the new format is not comparable. Sure you can say that there are a good amount of people here on sdn with 90+ but most scores in the 90s are like 90-93. I think this would make it hard for specialties to differentiate applicants if board scores are just 2-3 points apart. It wasn't like the old format where there were a lot of people with mid 90's and low 90s and you could differentiate one applicant from another (ie. 96 and 91). In my opinion (from the NDBE scores at my school), the board scores have gone down a lot and that a score above 85-86 is pretty solid. With that said, no one really knows and I like everyone else would just be guessing. But I did here that admissions are acknowledging the diff. between the two formats for foreign trained dentists at some schools where FTD have called and ask.
