Anyone in here doing it? I just got in today, it only took a month, so much less stressful than getting into vet school

I am excited about it, I think it will be nice compliment to the DVM and it should be done before I graduate from vet school, yay!

Congrats!!! Considering it. Not sure whether or not I'd want to do the MPH or MPVM at Davis, though. But Minn has a great rep...

Are you starting courses in it this fall? Over the summer? In any case, you'll have to keep us posted on how it is, how you like it.

I'm going to their summer institute in May for three weeks and taking some classes online this summer, I figure I'll get as much done as I can before I get bogged down in DVM classes. The average time to finish though is 3 years, so hopefully I can get it done before 4th year externships. Let me know if you have questions about the program, I was attracted to the fact that I could finish it before leaving vet school, and that most of the work is done on-line. And you get Minnesota resident status for classes (less $$$).

Hi Fargeese,

I'm looking forward to hearing how you like the summer session of the MPH. I'm considering doing it as well!

Hey-

I was just looking at MN posts and stumbled upon this one... I was also considering doing one of these programs but I didn't know you could apply before starting your freshman year. I'm going to try searching the U of MN webpage a little more, but I skimmed around a little and couldn't find too much info on the programs. Is this something you need to talk to professors in your area of interest about, or how did you go about the process??

THanks!!
Christina

Here's the info on the Veterinary Public Health Masters:

And here is the info on applying:

You should check the first link and give Karen Hanson a call. I am not sure if they are going to accept any more people for the program for this year, as applications are supposed to be in to SOPHAS (the public health version of VMCAS) by March 1st. But I don't think they are as strict about things as the vet schools. There is also a pdf file which is a brochure about the program on the right side of the first link page. This was how I found out about the program, because Minnesota sent me the brochure when I applied for vet school at MN.

I will be attending VMRCVM this fall, I don't know what this royal is of which you speak. Unless you are referring to me as a princess, which of course I am!

This made my morning.

I know the application was due March 1st. I had considered it but didn't want to spend the $ or time before knowing if I was in or out (still waiting at #1 IS...). A friend of mine just got in and this is her first year- so I think she starts this summer with the courses.

Just stumbled upon this thread (not sure if resurrecting old threads is good or bad around here yet).

I'm wondering about the summer institute. I know it starts soon. Would you be willing to come back and post your experience with it?
