I would say absolutely worth it to have hope. OOS waitlists normally move pretty decently, and while nothing’s guaranteed of course, I’d feel pretty comfy with that spot!

I’m also declining my OOS acceptance more than likely 🙂 I’m so happy for you!!!
 
If I’m #30 on the OOS waitlist, is it possible to get in still? By the April deadline? I’m afraid that if I turn down other schools I’ll be left scrambling
 
Are any IS people planning on going OOS? I’ve gotten into other schools and I’m thinking about going there instead, anyone else ?

Last year I think they got to #74 OOS, so I don’t think you’re in a bad spot at all (cheering for you x10000000!). I wouldn’t turn down a sure thing though, maybe accept a seat/pay deposit and just know you may pivot if given an offer from UMN early enough.

I am also IS and have gotten into other schools. Despite this, I am pretty confident that I will comity to UMN. Although my other schools have tons of amazing attributes so does the U and it has such a reduced tuition rate for IS students. If you want to discuss this further feel free to PM me 🙂
 
I think I found the right thread! I have a friend who has been OOS waitlisted and wondered if anyone knew how fast it's moving/has moved in the past?

I'm not sure if it moves at all before the deadline to accept has passed. Many students won't decline until the deadline or close to so I'm not sure if they bother moving the waitlist before that date.

My understanding is it does not move prior to that date.
 
Does anyone know how far down both the IS and OOS waitlist they usually get down to? My friend and I are hoping to get in together 🤞🏼
 
I believe last year OOS got into the 70s. Many of my classmates were pulled off the list.
 
To those attending the open house this weekend what are you planning on wearing? I know it says casual but does that still mean dressed up or would a sweater and jeans suffice?

I’m headed there this weekend! Can’t wait!

Considering they bolded about wearing proper footwear, I would say they mean it when they say casual, so maybe sweater, jeans, and a nice pair of boots? That’s probably what I’ll wear.
 
It’s supposed to freeze overnight between Friday and Saturday and campus is pretty much a wind tunnel so I would say wind proof jacket, and shoes that have good traction.

Hiiiii I will be leading tours this Saturday! By good shoes I would be wearing something comfortable that you also don’t mind potentially getting salty/wet/icy/snowy/etc, we do have some parts that end up outdoors and we’ve had super back and forth weather this year so we’ve been going from snow to ice to muddy water, etc.

Super excited to meet some of yall!!! 💙

Agreed with Shorty, why would you pull your spot? Whether it’s high or low, leave it be and if you’re called - fantastic! Fingers crossed for you. ❤️

You can and should keep working on your app in the meantime, just in case. 🙂

Hey!!! So normally I would totally agree but things in my personal life have dictated other circumstances that I have to take into account. Unfortunately that means possibly taking a year off the cycle.
 
I believe you have to accept your spot to be invited to the facebook
