Hi, Im new here.

Uhm i am planning on going to med school after i graduate next year. I didn't know anything about med school application ( i thought t'was like college application lang) so i missed the NMAT this December.

I'm planning to go to

1. PLM
2. UERM
3. Undecided...

Do you think they'll still accept me though i haven't took NMAT? Im planning to take it on April...

And uhm... I am not really that "smart" but i really really really want to be a doctor ( it's a combination of frustration and passsion), do you think i'd pass NMAT?

And also I am planning to work while studying med so i can pay off my tuition.. do you think it's a bad idea?

I need help badly. I'm losing hope na. 🙁

i'd appreciate it if u could text (09153103842) or ym me ( ii_maane_ii ) for infos.

Please?.....

Thank You.

🙁 no one's replyin wah!

working while studying is definitely a bad idea. i think some schools won't even allow you to do that.

go ahead and take the nmat now and apply for med school after you have your money saved up.

there are some schools that allow you to apply on the regular application period (which is september to may) while waiting for your NMAT grades (e.g. you want to enter med school this june, you can apply this january and take the nmat this coming april). however, THERE ARE schools that would need NMAT grades taken from december directly preceeding the school year or before. just inquire at the registrar's office for details.

and by the way, i wouldn't suggest you cram for medical school application. it reduces your chances of getting into the medical school of your choice. if you didn't make it in the application period and/or you're not yet decided, try to think it over of a longer period of time.

I agree with the above post. 🙂

Don't stress out yourself too much. Take it one step at a time.

I also suggest that you don't work during med school. It'll be difficult and you'll concentrate less - and be so much more tired. There's a lot of studying to do in med school. Additional work won't help with that.

I'm not sure if there are student loans offered here in the Philippines but if there are you should grab the chance and apply for a loan while in med school. That way, you'll pay it little by little once you graduate and start working. But, I'm really not sure if there are loans here in the Philippines.

Good luck and never lose hope...or you'll lose your dream. Keep your eyes on the goal, not on the bumps on the way to get there. 🙂

I agree. Don't be too much in a hurry in entering med school, remember it's a big decision to make. As an example, I was suppose to go to med last year but I unfortunately didn't make it to the schools I applied for. To make the long story short, I waited for a year so work muna ako and I'll resign to start med on June hopefully, I'm so thankful and happy bec I passed at the school of my choice. And thinking back, it's not too bad not to start med as soon as you graduate from college. Also about working while going to med, nope not a good idea. It's a field where your brain cells are being used most/all of the time I'm sure you wouldn't have enough energy to do extra work aside from studying.

Don't worry bec the more you worry, the more you'll be pressured. Just relax and be happy. Anyway, have you applied for med school na? You should have I think most schools will wait for your nmat results naman kaya just prepare if you're going to take it this april, isa pa mas malaki naman ang weight sa grades mo in college. Kaya mo yan. Good luck to you. 🙂

maan,
tama cla. wag ka mag work if mag aaral k ng med. ndi kakayanin. at tip ko lang. pag ininterview ka n ng mga med schools, wag mo sasabihin na you are planning to become a working student. kasi baka maging negative factor mo pa yun. ang gusto kasi nila yung stujante nila walang ibang aatupagin kundi ang pagaaral. nung ininteriew ako sa uerm puro mga tanong sakin: what is your study habit? how long do you study in a day? etc.. basta lahat puro sa pagaaral ung mga tanong and yung capability mo na mag med.. just want to inform you pala, may mga schools pa na nag aaccept ng students na april p lng mage-nmat. as far as i know, they are mcu(madaling makapasok sa scholarship dito) and feu( may second batch of list daw kse cla). sa palagay ko pati fatima nagaacept din. kaw n lng bahala mamili sa tatlo. kaya mo yan!

working while studying is NOT a very good idea, especially if you're studying medicine. you'll be spending much (i really mean MUCH!) of your time studying/reading lots of books, handouts you'll have less (to non-existent) time to work. plus the tight schedule of your classes & frequent exams/practicals that sacrificing some of your time with families and friends will be inevitable. & the physical stress! by the time your class ends in the day, all u wanna do is crawl back to bed. during your spare time, sleep will become your #1 priority since you were up until the wee hours of morning.

if you're financially constrained, perhaps it's wiser to ask your school of choice if they offer any scholarship programs which can help lighten your financial burden.

you can't do 2 things at the same time.
