missing committee letter of rec

so in order to get a LOR from the pre-health committee at my school, we have to submit a bunch of info to gain an interview with them before they sit down and write a committee letter for us.

i originally decided to take a year off, but now, i want to give a shot and apply this year -- but i missed the deadline for the committee letter from my school.

question 1) how bad would this look for my application if i don't have a committee letter of rec? can i explain that i missed the deadline or what?

question 2) i plan on taking the DAT....(which ive pushed back) in july =( so, would i still be consider an early applicant if i submit my AADSAS in early june and take the DAT in mid-july?

answer 1) it will not look bad, it just means you have to get the letters individually from your professors (NOT PHYSICALLY).... Have your professors written you LORs yet?

answer 2) IMO, you will not be considered early. Schools will not open your application unless its complete (i.e LORs are all in, DAT score in, etc etc). If you take the DAT in mid-July, it takes addsas about 4 weeks for them to get your official scores. This means your application won't be sent out till mid august (which according to everything I've been hearing around here... is no longer early)

No they haven't, but I have which professors to get them from in mind. I wonder how bad my chances of getting in would be if I won't be considered early. I just want to get into my state school 🙁

What about the faxing method? I heard some schools allow you to fax your score before they receive the official copy.

The LOR is a very serious thing, majority of schools will not consider your application complete unless all materials are in (like official DAT score and LORs)... incomplete application = they won't even review your file

The best thing you can do RIGHT NOW (TODAY) is to review the LOR requirement of all the schools you are interested in.... Compile a list such that the lors you request will satisfy the list. GENERALLY SPEAKING, 2 science LORs (biology and/or chemistry professors) + 1 non-science (can be anything, history, sociology, psychology, english, etc etc) + 1 dentist is a common combination.... but you should still check each schools' requirements and compile a list (do this asap)

Once you compile a list of LORs needed, get in touch with your professors / dentist... NO DON'T SEND AN EMAIL, stop by their office and ask in person. Let them know you'd like this done within the next 4 weeks.

As far as unofficial DAT scores are concerned.... I heard dental schools will take in your unofficial score, but they don't really finalize your application until the officials are in from AADSAS....

thanks! from what i found, its 2 sci, 1 nonsci, 1 dentist. hopefully, i can get the LOR in on time....

oh don't worry about it... its still march... you have alot of time to get your LORs in order.... Just get on it asap, don't procrastinate. Find all the professors now and start asking them. Let them know that you'd really appreciate it if you can have the LOR by mid-april.... keep something in mind, some professors procrastinate, so you need to be on them lol (not in an annoying way ofc, but in a more professional matter)
