Hello again from Mississippi State University's College of Veterinary Medicine! We wanted to touch base with everyone to let you know that we continue to work through application files for the Class of 2023.
Here are a few reminders for you:
(1) We plan to complete our application reviews by early December, and you should receive email notification from us no later than December 22 regarding your interview status, i.e. whether or not you received one. Please keep an eye on your email.
(2) Interviews are scheduled for February 4-8, 2019.
(3) If you have courses scheduled this fall or next spring and those courses are among our prerequisites, you will be expected to successully complete those courses. Please remember that we do not allow summer 2019 courses. All requirements must be met by the end of the spring 2019 semester.
Again, we thank you for your interest in our College of Veterinary Medicine. As always, if you have any questions or if we can be of assistance to you, please contact us. Haleigh Fason and I wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Hi! I am a 1st year at Mississippi State, I would love to answer any questions you all may have. Last year we had about 1,200+ applicants, about 350-450 got interviews, and 250-350 were on the waitlist from my understanding (but it really varies year to year and those numbers could be a bit off). Getting the interview is the hardest part, in my opinion. Make sure if you do get -an interview that you bring updated hours, GPAs, and any new activities you may have began. In the past they have taken these into consideration and added it to your application, but it will not hurt you if you do not. My class is very diverse with many age groups, states, and nationalities represented. We are extremely close, and very much a family. As you probably know, we are really proud of the 2 year classes- 2 year clinical (2-2) program. Each vet at MsState graduates with 80-200 surgeries performed, and are quick to adjust to clinics after graduating. In the past each interviewer has been assigned a current student to answer questions about life at Mississippi State and help put you to ease about interviews (they are very relaxed but professional).

So if we are granted an interview should we just mail them directly to the college?

Yes! They should tell you where to send them when you get your interview invite. To answer the other question, Mississippi State does not do tracking because having experience with all species helps with NAVLE and a lot of people tend to go in to vet school thinking they want to do one thing but they change their mind for one reason or another. If you have your heart set on a particular field, they give us a lot of time for externships that can be used for whatever!

Congrats to everyone! If you didn’t get one please don’t be discouraged, the committee’s change every year and I know many classmates who didn’t get in the first time. I definitely encourage the file review in April.
